Bachata (Easier to start):
· The footwork is a basic 3-step side-to-side with a tap (1-2-3-tap). You can learn the fundamental step in 5 minutes.
· The connection is closer and more intuitive. The lead is mostly through your frame and chest, not complex arm twists.
· The vibe is slower, sensual, and forgiving. You can have a blast at a social after just 2 or 3 lessons.
Salsa (More rewarding long-term):
· The footwork is faster and more intricate (on1 or on2 timing). It takes a few weeks for your feet to stop feeling clumsy.
· The turns are flashier. You'll learn cool spins and hand tricks early on, which feels incredibly satisfying.
· The energy is upbeat, energetic, and party-like. It forces you to be sharp and precise
