Slide in, sweep hard, and be part of our community!
Curling is a sport that doesn't require a lot of expensive equipment. Here's what you'll need to start:

Warm and comfortable clothing. Special curling clothing can be purchased but many curlers wear track suits, sweaters, etc. It's good to have layers so you can adjust as needed. Curling shoes can

also be purchased but for new curlers you can start with a clean pair of running shoes (reserved only for curling so you don't bring any dirt onto the ice surface). We put clear tape on your slider foot. We also have slip-on sliders that you can use instead of tape or you can purchase your own slider. Loaner brooms or brushes are available at the club for new curlers. Most curlers purchase their own brush during their first season. Most curlers wear gloves to keep their hands warm and to provide protection when sweeping.

Are you passionate about our club and looking for a way to give back? We need your voice and leadership! We currently have 2 Board Positions open and are looking for dedicated members to join our team:
🏆 Vice President – Work closely with the President to lead key initiatives, guide club operations, and support Kayla across executive projects.
🤝 Member Relations – Serve as the vital liaison between our members and the board, ensuring member feedback is heard and fostering a strong club community.
You’ll have plenty of support from the rest of the board every step of the way—no prior board experience required!

Ready to hit the ice and give curling a shot? 🥌✨
Whether you’re looking to try a fun new activity or find your next favorite sport, York Curling Club in Newmarket is hosting two beginner-friendly sessions this fall!
Dates: Tuesday, Sept 29 & Thursday, Oct 1, 2026
Time: 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Location: York Curling Club (Newmarket, ON)
Cost: $30 / person (Get your $30 reimbursed if you join as a member for the season!)
Capacity: Limited to 16 participants per session
What to know before you go:
Helmets are strongly recommended for all new curlers.
Equipment (brooms & grippers) is provided.
Bring clean, rubber-soled running shoes to change into.
Spots fill up fast, so grab a friend or come on your own and learn the ropes in a fun, welcoming environment!
