Arts New West Arts New West is committed to bringing the community together through the arts.

The Arts Council established in 1967 as a not-for-profit organization to encourage, nurture and infuse creative spirit in New Westminster. The Arts Council of New Westminster operates The Gallery at Queen's Park which is located at the Centennial Lodge in Queens Park.

Refugee Day Film Screening: Someone Like Me & Panel Discussion

Location: Douglas College Theatre, New West

Someone Like Me is a 2021 Canadian documentary directed by Sean Horlor and Steve J. Adams. The film follows Drake, a young gay man who escapes life-threatening violence in Uganda, and 11 strangers from Vancouver's q***r community who unite to support his resettlement.

Guests are also invited to explore a pop-up art display in the foyer featuring works by artists with lived refugee experience. All proceeds go to Rainbow Refugee.

Presented by New West Film Society partnered with Arts New West, Doc Northwest and Douglas College.
