www.adamgibbs.ca I have been a full time photographer since 1992.

Up until 2014 my work focused primarily on garden photography and I had many hundreds of images published in gardening magazine across North America. My nature photography continues to be used throughout the globe for all kinds of applications. A big part of my life has been spending time in the outdoors. Whether it be trail running, climbing or hiking, photography is really just another excuse for me to get out into the wilds. Nature photography as well as garden photography have taken me to some remarkable locations and I have been very fortunate indeed to be able to eek out a living from something that I love doing. My main focus in nature photography has varied over the years however I do tend to be drawn to contrasts in colour and more intimate views within grander landscapes, although lately I have been slapping on the wide angle. I thoroughly enjoy finding scenes of simplicity but also like the challenge of putting together more complex compositions. As far as processing goes I try to be true to myself and true to the original experience without "over cooking an image" Not always easy to accomplish as I often find myself putting more into an image than perhaps is warranted or in some cases going over my personal parameters. With today's endless processing possibilities it is very easy to get caught up in the image rather than the original intent of the photograph. As a nature photographer the experience has always been my primary goal, the image is just icing on the cake.

I’ve been exploring southern BC and Alberta in my camper for nearly a month now, and I have to admit, it’s been incredibly refreshing to get off the beaten path, explore backroads, and discover new places to photograph.

Halfway through the trip, I met up with 𝑾𝑰𝑳𝑫 𝑳𝑰𝑮𝑯𝑻 𝑳𝑨𝑵𝑫𝑺𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑬𝑺 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐬𝐨𝐧 for our autumn photography tour in the Canadian Rockies. We were treated to some fantastic autumn colours this year, and it was a pleasure to share the experience with such a great group of photographers.

Looking ahead, I have two winter photography trips in the Rockies coming up, and there are still a couple of opportunities to join us!

For the last week or so I’ve been exploring some of British Columbia’s backroads, enjoying the autumn colour and basically just hanging out, exploring new areas and finding some wonderful places to camp in the rig.

Here are a few snaps from the past week.

I’ve recently returned from a wonderful trip I’ve been wanting to do for a very long time. My partner Karin, my old climbing buddy Dave Franklin—whom I’ve known for 45 years—and Martin Godwyn joined me for a leisurely 12-day hike along the Akshayuk Pass route in Auyuittuq National Park.
I’ve made a couple of videos about the trip, and the first one is now up on my YouTube channel. Link in my bio.

I’m on@my way back home after an amazing trip to Namibia with my BEST buddy and a wonderful group of clients. I figured that since I have many hours of waiting and flying I would throw up a few snaps from the trip. The landscape in Namibia is certainly varied and a joy to explore. Hopefully we’ll organize another trip to this amazing country in the not so distant future. A big thanks to for the GFX100 II loaner, what an awesome camera.

I am incredibly impressed with the GFX100II. I wanted to test out the iso capabilities of the camera so I made this image of a Rock Hyrax at iso 12800. The camera out performed my expectations. Thanks for the loaner

I’m currently traveling around Namibia with my good friend and a wonderful group of togs. Amazing country, I’m even inspired to photograph some of the locals.
