Yesterdays Colour Collective studio was an energetic day of development for some and completion for others. James Lash is full of smiles, since he's finished his latest work and Bradley Merritt is pushing ahead with his Beluga painting. Dan Tell has two paintings developing at once, such dedication. Sangeeta Rehki is really producing gorgeous winter landscapes, three so far for Inclusion Art Show, and Geoffrey Lee is really on fire with a new variety of abstracts. http://www.colourcollective.ca/ https://www.communitylivingsociety.ca/

Over our 26 years in operation, we've witnessed many examples of the power of art, to transform lives. Behind the beautiful paintings and pottery, is an opportunity to develop focus and concentration, self discipline and self esteem. Many studies have shown the power of producing art to maintain brain function and in Dementia patients who were previously creative people, those skills are maintained. A case in point is Bradley Merritt, who as he grows creatively, at an incredible pace, is also learning important life skills. http://www.colourcollective.ca/ https://www.communitylivingsociety.ca/

Some very special works in our glaze kilns this morning. Bradley Merritt is continuing his series of underwater life with this fabulous Beluga Whale plate. James Lash has another installment in his series of abstract pieces and Linda Shier's fish trays are always gorgeous. Dan Tell produced these two "Danville" plates with the usual whimsical neighbourhood. Arlynn Nobel's mugs, in our newest glaze are stunning. have a look at all of them ! http://www.potteryworks.ca/ https://www.communitylivingsociety.ca/

Yesterday, Snap Photo Squad visited Surrey Art Centre, in Bear Creek Park and caught some great shots inside the art gallery and outside in the park. If you've never visited this Gallery, do yourself a favour and drop by. The photographers found some very interesting works, including a sculpture by one of our favourite people and a big supporter of our studio, Keith Rice Jones. Enjoy this trip through the gallery, courtesy of Snap Photo Squad. http://www.colourcollective.ca/ https://www.communitylivingsociety.ca/

A huge congratulations to James Lash, whose latest painting has been chosen by the Inclusion Art Show Committee, for this years show poster. James has had many successes and acknowledgments over his 26 years of painting with The Colour Collective, but this is a new one. The other members of the Collective are working hard, developing their latest and starting new works. Artist Kaori Gokita is a Diesel engine of creative energy. Kaori is a painter, potter, photographer and loves to sketch in her spare time. Wow! On top of all that, Kaori wants to learn some pottery production skills. So, she is working with staff member Danielle, to learn how to slip-cast our moulds. Kaori is a very quick study, so she is already participating in regular mould production, and having a great time. It's a great thing to watch. https://www.communitylivingsociety.ca/ http://www.potteryworks.ca/

You can't run a pottery studio, for artists with diverse abilities , without some very special potters working there. We're thinking it's time to give a shout out to 4 incredible women. Arlynn Nobel, Jesselin T'Kenye, Ami Sangha and Moni Feizabadi, are all extremely talented potters in their own right, who come to our studio to teach and support our artists to thrive. They bend and stretch and explain and nurture, and give everything that they have to our group of grateful artists. We thank you, with sincerest gratitude. http://www.potteryworks.ca/ https://www.communitylivingsociety.ca/

We are so thankful for our Monday morning kiln unloading, it makes Mondays bearable, especially when there are so many beautiful pieces as this morning. Ryley Jensen Fisk has turned out these spectacular Ramen bowls, and Linda Raudonus continues with her Mid-Century Modern inspired abstract design. James Lash has really captured the whimsy of Maud Lewis with this platter and Sangeeta Rekhi's bird vase is perfect. Arlynn Nobel's mugs are always a highlight in our kilns and Kaori Gokita's floral jug is beyond cute. Check it all out. https://www.communitylivingsociety.ca/ http://www.potteryworks.ca/

Yesterday, Snap Photo Squad took the Q to Q ferry to Queensborough and found some beautiful nature shots. The trip across the Fraser River was the fun part, but they equally enjoyed exploring a new venue and finding a lot of natural settings. I'm sure they'll decide to revisit Queensborough again soon, if only for the ferry ride ! https://www.communitylivingsociety.ca/ http://www.colourcollective.ca/
