Paper Excellence—which has been snapping up mills and acquiring companies across North America for years—is connected to the notorious Sinar Mas Group and Asia Pulp & Paper, megacorps that have razed millions of acres of irreplaceable rainforest in Indonesia, destroying critical habitat and violating Indigenous rights.*

In other words, Paper Excellence—which is linked to the very same corporation that is playing a leading role in the destruction of life on earth—is in the midst of snapping up millions of acres of forest across Canada to feed its mills.
Corporate monopolies over forests are sketchy at the best of times, but in an extinction crisis, they’re utterly unacceptable. The stronger corporations like Paper Excellence become, the harder it is to hold power to account, and the worse things get for nature.
The prioritization of powerful extractive companies has caused the list of endangered species in Canada to expand year after year and our government to miss every single biodiversity target they've ever set for themselves.
