Artists' Collective Theatre is a theatre company based in Calgary AB, Canada founded by Amanda Cutting & Eric Pettifor in 2012, set out to produce provocative and innovative works pushing the boundaries of independent theatre with 3 goals in mind:

1.To do new works, or new takes on old ones.
2.To showcase and develop Artists in an ensemble context.
3.Mentoring of emerging artists.

We are endlessly grateful for the generosity we have received from Telus this festival season. With their sponsorship, we were able to bring a greater level of accessibility to our festival in Nanaimo this year by bringing in an ASL interpreter for both of our shows on July 29th, and we were able to add finishing touches to our sets.
As well as providing us with a donation, they also had a tent set up at the front of the festival at each location offering free frozen treats and swag!

There’s just three more days of down at Maffeo Sutton Park. Don’t miss out on some terrific theatre this summer!

- Thumbelina at 1PM. Ben Francis’ funny fantasy retelling of the classic tale by Hans Christian Andersen, with original music by Zach Ammon Peterson, directed by Rigby Mugridge.
- The Secret Life of Rowena Riddle at 3PM. Zoe Henderson’s one-woman show about a superhero on a special mission. Only problem is, she can’t remember what it was!
- The Merry Wives of Windsor (Nanaimo) at 6PM. Maureen Robinson’s groovy take on Shakespeare’s madcap comedy. Full of 1960’s tunes and local Van Isle flair.

🎭✨ It’s time for the Island Summer Theatre Festival at Maffeo Sutton Park!

Join us Wednesday through Sunday for outdoor theatre that’s perfect for the whole family!

🌸 1:00 p.m. – Thumbelina - A magical adventure full of music, laughter, and heart that’s perfect for all ages.

🦸 3:00 p.m. – The Not-So-Secret Life of Rowena Riddle, Superhero - A fast-paced, hilarious show about discovering the hero within—perfect for little superheroes!

😂 6:00 p.m. – The Merry Wives of Nanaimo - Shakespeare gets a groovy local twist in this laugh-out-loud comedy set to the music of the ’60s!

🪑 Bring a lawn chair or blanket, and pack some snacks and water—we’ll take care of the entertainment!

It's almost festival time at Maffeo Sutton Park, and we have some important news!

The performance of The Merry Wives of Windsor (Nanaimo) on July 29 will begin on time at 6:00pm with a special welcome from Elder Lolly Good.

Additionally, the performances of Thumbelina and Merry Wives of Windsor (Nanaimo) on July 29 will be ASL interpreted. This service has been generously sponsored by Telus Mobility.

🤟 ASL-Interpreted Performances at the Island Summer Theatre Festival! 🎭

We’re delighted to offer American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for two performances during this year’s Island Summer Theatre Festival in Nanaimo.

⛳ The Merry Wives of Nanaimo 🕕 6:00 p.m.

Our ASL interpreter will be on stage throughout both performances, making these shows more accessible for members of the Deaf and hard of hearing community.
