Proud to be serving the Nanaimo community for nearly 25 years. Classes are offered in Ballet, Pre-Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical Jazz, Tap, Pointe, Modern & Musical Theatre for all ages 3 to Adults. We are located in the North Nanaimo area, on the top floor of the Applecross Business Centre. Each year, the teaching staff looks forward to developing your child’s love of dance. Whether he or she is dancing f

or recreation and pleasure or pursuing a performing or teaching career, each student possesses unique talent and ability – precious gifts for us to develop. We look forward to working with you and your children. Tempo Dance Academy's aims and objectives are to provide students of all ages and levels of experience an education in the performing arts by offering the training needed in a varied and meticulous manner. We strive to give students the opportunity to enhance their performing ability and, in doing so, instill a sense of self-discipline, pride, accomplishment, and understanding for the performing arts.

Dancers of the Month for May!💗

Each month the teachers discuss who they feel has stood out within the studio inside and outside the classroom. It is important for us to highlight our dancers who constantly show up ready for class, work hard and bring positive energy into the classroom. Thank you to these dancers and congratulations! The Tempo Team is so beyond proud of you!

Imogen Kuehner is one of our grade one dancers and shows a strong dedication and passion for dance! Imogen is always well prepared for class and brings great energy and enthusiasm. She’s been working hard on her Ballet syllabus but also expresses herself well through free creative movement. Congratulations Imogen!

Sabryn Wilson is one of our Grade 4 dancers and asks such great questions in class! Sabryn always comes to class prepared and excited to dance. Sabryn is always kind and welcoming to her fellow dancers. She has worked super hard all year long and we can’t wait to continue to watch her grow! Congratulations Sabryn!

Ava Scrase is one our Teen 3 dancers and is such a joy to teach! Ava has consistently been a dedicated dancer over the years. She always enters the studio with a polite and pleasant attitude. We enjoy seeing her constant improvement and the confidence she’s gaining with performing on stage! Congratulations Ava!

Camryn Vansickle is one of our Intermediate dancers and lights up the room with her energy. Camryn has improved a lot this year with her technique with her performance quality! She takes in corrections, practices at home before coming to class and loves to find the positive in many situations! Congratulations Camryn!

Dancers of the Month for April!💗

Delayed post due to the craziness of competition season! Each month the teachers discuss who they feel has stood out within the studio inside and outside the classroom. It is important for us to highlight our dancers who constantly show up ready for class, work hard and bring positive energy into the classroom. Thank you to these dancers and congratulations! The Tempo Team is so beyond proud of you!

Dannika LeNeveu is one of our Teen 3 dancers and her passion constantly shines through in class and on stage. Dannika asks lots of questions and is striving to improve her ballet technique constantly. Dannika is always polite and respectful and she is always a fun and positive energy in the classroom! Congratulations Dannika!

Louisa Molson is one of our primary dancers and is always engaged in class. Lousia works hard and comes to class prepared by being able to recall all the choreography and exercises with confidence! Lousia is always a ray of sunshine in the studio and we can’t wait to watch her continue to grow! Congratulations Lousia!

Saige Hinchliffe is one of our Teen 4 dancers and she is a fabulous role model for our younger dancers. Saige is a fierce performer and always gives 110%. She is her peers best supporter, she is known to cheer on other dancers at every competition and also keep their spirits up when they need an extra push or reassurance! Congratulations Saige!

Brooke Kirk is one of our senior dancers and demonstrates strong commitment and dedication. Brooke is a hard working dancer who takes pride in her training and it shows on and off stage! She brings energy, strength and intention in every her performance and she is a joy to teach in class. Congratulations Brooke!

Well, that is a wrap for Tempo Dance 33rd annual recital. Congratulations on an incredible show! Every one of you from the youngest at three to our adult performers graced the stage with open hearts, passion, and the true love of dance that was shown through every performance💃 We are so proud of each and everyone of you❤️

Thank You to our beautiful dancers amazing staff, volunteers, generous supporters, and the best parents we could ever ask for! Your dedication, encouragement and support made this year truly memorable!
A huge congratulations to our senior graduates. Tempo will miss you immensely - it has been a pleasure watching you grow into the incredible young adults you are today. We wish you all the best as you begin a new chapter and know you will always be a part of the Tempo family ❤️

Ava Richards is one of our grade 4 dancers and is a pleasure to teach! Ava is a bright light and brings joy into every classroom! She works super hard and never backs away from a challenge. We love watching her perform on stage! Congratulations Ava!

Emerson Rolls is one of our Pre Elementary dancers and is a joy to have in class. She’s hard working and asks lots of questions. She always brings a smile and is never afraid to make everyone laugh! Congratulations Emerson!

Sophia Elliott is one of our Teen 3 dancers. Her passion and dedication is obvious to our whole team and she always comes to class ready to work hard! Sophia is always super supportive of everyone around her and we can’t wait to watch her grow! Congratulations Sophia!

Alexis Webb is one of our Senior dancers and is a true team player and a pleasure to have in class. She always works hard and brings energy and love with her in every classroom. She’s always including everyone and making sure everyone feels seen and heard. An incredible leader and lovely student in every way! Congratulations Lexi!
