Before I walked down to the beach to capture these sunset photos, I was patiently waiting for the campground park staff to come over so I could purchase a bundle of wood and be ready to start my fire once I returned from this shoot. But it took a while with the folks across the road so as the sun was setting, I was eagerly waiting. I didn’t want to assume they would come back later, once it was already dark, because I wanted to get my fire going as soon as I returned to my site.

I finally made it down there but with limited time left to capture the sun before it crossed the horizon.

Fortunately, it was a gorgeous few minutes and I got to have a warm fire that evening because patiently waited for wood. What a conundrum! 😅 All in all, pretty blessed I’d say!

I am finding that coastal scenes in black and white are really inspiring me lately so here’s a couple from Rathtrevor Beach last month that were converted to B&W during post-processing.

Let’s call this series Peaceful Pacheedaht.

I showed up here for my very first time and I was welcomed with some pretty and peaceful views (and vibes!) With not too many people on-site, it was a great time of year to explore the area at a slower and relaxed pace. Mission accomplished.

Jordan River: the perfect spot to sit down for a lunch on driftwood logs to watch waves, paddle-boarders, surfers, fisherman and birds. If you’re looking for a place to really zen out, this is probably it.

As the seasons start to shift, I’m slowly emerging from my summer hibernation! 🌿

Sharing a couple of macro photos from my first trip of the season, when my friend Carly came from the Okanagan to visit. We gallivanted all over the island chasing photo opportunities! I used her Canon 100mm macro for these and have been on the hunt for a macro lens since.

While these feel older now, I have two photo adventures lined up this month and I can’t wait to share. None likely with a new macro lens yet but a subject that is less common in my portfolio but should definitely be way more up there.

Stay tuned! 💫

Florals and sprigs of summer. During this season, I often leave my camera behind. I am too busy traveling, visiting, exploring - or probably swimming - that I just don’t have time for my camera. This year, I have taken a few more pics than usual but still not that many. Here is a small collection taken over the last 2+ months.

But don’t worry, my season for photography (every season but summer) is just around the corner! 🤗

Several weeks ago, I went on a little walk up the road behind my house. I was looking for the last of the Purple Camas and the Lotus Pinnatus as someone once told me where I could find some on that road. I never found any but there were Lupines en masse so I sought a batch and started photographing.

Then I found this snail - or at least she shell (no snail was ever seen) but seemed like a unique find on a lupine! I am happy I ventured off to that specific patch to capture something different! 🐌
