Her love of hip-hop began as a young girl in the 1980s, and that deep rooted connection continues to shape her artistic practice today.

Created by Alexandra “Spicey” Landé, one of the most influential figures in Quebec’s hip hop dance scene and the creator of Canada’s largest street dance competition, Mōnad is a powerful exploration of movement, sound, culture and connection.

Inspired by the philosophical concept of the mōnad, the smallest, indivisible element containing entire universes within itself, Spicey explores the relationship between her body, dance and hip hop culture.

In collaboration with producer and MC Jai Nitai Lotus, bodies, sounds and materials collide, transform and respond to one another, creating a bold and immersive performance that is constantly in motion.

Mōnad invites us to consider how everything is connected — and what it means to exist, move and transform within the world around us.

Come experience this captivating work live at the OV Arts Centre.
