Three members of Art Action Earwig, in collaboration with Patrick Aleck Jr.,bring “Inner Forest Journey” to Robins Park and the Catstream forest this Rivers Day, September 27th at 11am (right after Elder Gary Manson's Welcome). 😇

We will open up the celebration with a community participatory circular movement to regain balance in interrupted circulation. This circulatory journey that begun in our Earth Day phase continues the search for better harmony through aligning our inner organs and minds with Mother Earth, offering foods to nourish them. We guide you through singing, drumming, and creating with earthy materials, while honoring all directions.

Art Action Earwig is an interdisciplinary collective composed of Wryly Andherson, Minah Lee, and Tadafumi Tamura, living and working on the traditional land of the Snuneymuxw people of Vancouver Island and the xʷməθkwəy̓əm, Skwxwú7mesh, and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh Nations of the Lower Mainland, unceded territories.

🚀Gathering Location: Robins Park in Nanaimo. This event includes walking through/into the Catstream Forest. No registration required. Bring your drum or simply your presence 😉

Come join a hearty circle of stories and songs, Talking Circle: Water Hearts and Tree Tales, facilitated our River’s Day artist Danielea Castell at 2:15pm this Sunday, during the Pulling To Gather celebration at Robins Park (September 27th, 11:30am-4:30pm, Free event). 🚣

"Did you know that when we share stories of the Waters we love, they receive our love directly? The same is true when we share tales about our beloved Trees." Danielea (Tall Standing Woman) is an eco-spiritual social artist, sound weaver, and facilitator with The Listening Field. Join Danielea for a ceremonial circle celebrating the Rivers, Creeks and Streams that we know and love. Each person is invited to share a brief story or anecdote about a beloved Water body, and together we hold a field of witnessing for these stories to be held by the community. There will be an opening and closing for the circle as well as group singing of Water gratitude songs. Bring a folding chair or cushion to sit on.

🚀Gathering Location: Robins Park (Rivers Day celebration welcome booth). This event includes walking through/into the Catstream Forest. No registration required.

Com join us at Robins Park this Sunday with Priyanka Chakrabarti (Piu) who is sharing a new creation inviting you to a place of deep listening. Soundscapes from the Catstream forest will be part of this sonic treat. Grab your lunch (prepared by our chef artist) and then settle in your lawn chair by 1pm during our Rivers Day celebration (September 27th, 11am-4:30pm, Free event)! 🎧

"I am interested in what emerges: the sounds of the site, the rhythms of working together, the textures of the plants and environment, as well as my personal response to the experience of being there, listening and working. The field recordings and observations will become musical ideas, further developed through synthesis, voice, rhythm, and live electronic processing for the September 27 performance."

Piu is a musician, composer, and producer who adorns ambient soundscapes with hard hitting synth riffs, raga-inspired vocals, and global rhythms. Her sound blends genres, cultures, and identities—a reflection of how she moves in the world. Through both her studio practice and live performance, Piu invites listeners into carefully constructed sonic spaces designed for reflection, release, and release, and intentional listening.

Much gratitude to everyone who came to be part of our 2026 Earth Day celebration! We have more to offer this spring. Join Snuneymuxw First Nation Elder C’tasi:a Geraldine Manson and ethnobotanist Nancy Turner for a plant walk “Native Plants under ecological threat from Invasive species & Respectful Harvest.” Two years ago, the duo shared their in-depth knowledge over a casual and friendly dialogue at Wildwood Ecoforest. How about a weekday afternoon walk along the Millstone River in Bowen Park this Thursday?🌿

Drop in FREE Plant Walk
When: May 7, 3-5pm
Where: Gather at Amphitheatre Near Duck Pond in Bowen Park.
More about the facilitators on the landing page: www.PullingToGather.space

Did you know that invasive species are one of the biggest threats to biodiversity? 😲Native plants hold important traditional cultural knowledge and feed native animals and micro organisms that are essential to the healthy ecology. Some of them offer delicious and medicinal berries you may not be familiar with yet. If you made an Honorable Harvest Basket with ivy from Bowen Park, you may bring it with you! 😍

It’s this Saturday April 25th 11am! Wryly Andherson, Minah Lee, and Tadafumi Tamura of Art Action Earwig bring “Placate-ring” to Bowen Park's Amphitheatre/duck pond for the Pulling To Gather Earth Day celebration co-produced by Nanaimo Forest Kids.🌲

🌍This opening performance is a community participatory circular movement to regain balance in interrupted circulation and heartful communication. This work is a living thing, and we learn from experiencing how a work resonates differently in different times and places. We are curious about what “protection” means in the context of place and history, in this place and moment. What does protection mean to you in the world today? What am I protecting? Where does a sense of protection belong? We try to create a ring of protection with you, by feeding the spirits in all directions. Perhaps it’s an odd spiritual potluck where you can (b)ring something to share. 🔮
