Things are getting spooky in Musquodoboit Harbour...

The ghosts are in the graveyard and the skeletons are up to their antics at the Historic Guild House. Come see for yourself!

This year we are also collecting donations for the Eastern Shore Food Bank Musquodoboit Harbour--because there's nothing scarier than being hungry. If you are able to and are looking for a place to donate, come feed Frankie the Food Bank Monster! He's always hungry for non-perishable food items. (Don't worry, though, there's an extra basket if you're too scared to put the food right into his mouth.)

Well, the weather may not be the most cooperative yet, but progress is happening anyway. Pic one is for reference. I find it helps to see how the pathway looked before so I can feel extra pleased with how far it's come.

Ready for the big unveiling? Still have some finishing details to go, but my "new" old door is back on it's hinges!

The process: take old door down; use heat gun, belt sander, and a LOT of elbow grease to strip old paint; remove accent moldings; seal up and support damaged areas; sand; keep sanding; apply 9000 coats of various paint; reattach moldings after baffling over why they no longer fit???; Paint remove and polish hinges; pray to the restoration gods that the door will fit back in its frame; rehang door; leave sacrifice for restoration gods; install epic doorknocker...

More adventures in door restoration to follow. Maybe I'll add a doorknob or something.

Behind the scenes: front porch edition. I discovered that the secret to restoring corbels is a heat gun. Managed to get these two back to a smooth finish, and sealed them up with wood epoxy before priming and painting. You'd think doing a clean green line against white paint would be getting easier by now...
