Hello everyone. MainLine Theatre recently suffered some serious flood damage that has caused not only damage to the ceiling & roof, but most of the space itself that has caused thousands of dollars in damages. They need to raise $50k in order to help pay for repairs and keep afloat. MainLine Theatre has been a big part of my life for several years, as well as several artists that has passed by there since its inception. It's a huge part of the Montreal Theatre community and a place where artists can rent space for a fair & affordable price. Any amount is good enough. Please donate if you can and/or share the campaign to those who can donate. Thank you.

Dear Community, Fresh off the heels of an incredible FringeMTL, we were on the verge of officially launching our $50K Summer Fundraising Campaign. It was to coincide with the celebration of World Fringe Day (July 11) and the announcement of record-breaking festival ticket sales and revenue earned by...

I took a week to sum up my feelings after closing the show last week because I needed some time to process everything, I went through a lot of emotions. Thank you to everyone who came to see This Show is Broken last week. The response from those who’ve came has been overwhelming positive and I thank all of you for your support. This was the most challenging piece I’ve ever done. I put a lot of myself into this, and while I’ve done the show 3 times now, this was the most powerful edition of this I’ve ever done. I originally planned to put the show onstage at the 2020 Montreal FRINGE Festival and obviously because of COVID, didn’t happen. This was my last piece of unfinished business from the pandemic, and I’m glad I was finally able to do it.

I first want to thank Shane Nichol for giving me the opportunity to put on my show, I would like to thank Xander Chung, for coming along & working with me and reminding me what this show is all about…authenticity as ourselves. I would like to thank Stephen MacLean Rogers & the Segal Centre For The Performing Arts for letting me have the time and the space to workshop all my material, I would like the thank Mainline Theatre and the entire staff, and finally, I would like to thank my family for their love & support.

I don’t know what the future holds for the show, whether a remount or be put back on the shelf and time to focus on new projects. If it’s meant to be onstage again, it will be back onstage again. This won’t be the last time you’ll see This Show is Broken.

Thank you all!

Cheers!

Description:
What if you entered an empty rehearsal hall and suddenly an audience appears? Joseph Ste-Marie brings his experimental scripted/improvised one-man show, This Show is Broken back to the stage! This remount blends the 2021 Digital Theatre production from the Montreal FRINGE Festival and the original 2015 production at the 2nd annual Shortstanding Festival. Ste-Marie must perform his show as he explores his life, struggles, missteps, and tries to show that it’s not too late to pursue your dreams…. However, Joseph is challenged to be honest with himself so his show can be authentic as possible without being blinded by ambition.

We're in The Montreal Gazette's Top 10 shows of 2021! Shoutout to all the other productions on the list! A great way to end 2021!

Such was the strength of Montreal theatre’s comeback in the second half of the year that many deserving productions didn’t make it to columnist Jim Burke's top 10 list.
