Primal Edge Theatre

Primal Edge Theatre Primal Edge Theatre was created by Sharon Malone and Mary Melfi as an independent theatre company.

Sharon Malone has been active in every role in community theatre for 40 years. Primal Edge Theatre started as a collaborartion with Mary Melfi, to produce and direct her play, Painting Moments. Information about Nick Palazzo, the subject of the play, can be found on the Visual Aids website: https://visualaids.org/artists/nick-palazzo

Mary Melfi is a published author, poet, playwright. Her first n

ovel, Infertility Rites, was published by Guernica Editions in 1991; it was later translated into French and Italian. In 1994 Doubleday Canada published her children's fantasy book: Ubu, the Witch Who Would be Rich. Also a playwright, Mary Melfi's works for the theater have been workshopped in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. Noted for her black humour, wry wit and imaginative style critics have suggested that this author manages "not only to make us laugh, but also think." I donated to this fundraiser because the story of Dalton Trumbo's: Johnny Got His Gun is powerful and needs to be shared. They've already reached 11.25% of their goal, and every contribution helps bring this meaningful production to life. If you're able, please consider donating or sharing to help support the talented team behind this project. It’s inspiring to see how a simple question can ignite such passion—let’s help make this show happen! 🎭✨

Sadly, we were not chosen in the Nanaimo Fringe lottery, so we will be shifting our focus back to Montreal. Auditions for a Montreal actor will be forthcoming, along with a search for an artistic venue.

Onward…

Just saw a fabulous show tonight, Resurrection, at the Centaur Theatre with Mary Melfi and Calli Armstrong. It’s on til Saturday as part of the Centaur’s Winterworks. Amazing performances by 3 superb artists, musicians and storytellers. You can tell this was (is) a passion project for Dane Stewart, the playwright, historian and podcaster, who brings the story of Michael Callen to life. Here is one of the reviews:

"Resurrection", till March 15th at Centaur, is a brilliant bio piece that blends documentary, theater and music.
