Have been diving into the work of Canadian filmmaker Jane Marsh Beveridge who left the NFB when its founder and commissioner, John Grierson, said he would never let a woman director produce her own film. She said of women working at the NFB at the time they "... were so grateful to be working in interesting jobs that they didn’t realize they were slaves".

becoming a British citizen is a thing. Scotland, Wales and England were each a part of my foremothers’ and fathers’ history in different ways and at different times so I owe the nation a lot - not to mention it's given me some of my favourite writers, poets, musicians… thank you British High Commission, Ottawa for such a fun and bespoke ceremony 🙂 thank you to my family for watching me swear allegiance and for the lampoonesque adventure as always. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
