Ten years ago today, The Tragically Hip played their final concert in Kingston, Ontario. On August 22, CBC will re-air The Tragically Hip: A National Celebration, originally broadcast in 2016 and watched by 11.7 million people.

During that final tour, Gord didn’t just say goodbye – he called on all of us to “Do Something”. As we revisit this historic moment, we’re reminded that his words are just as meaningful today as they were ten years ago.

Big weekend ahead for The Tragically Hip camp. It’s hard to believe it's been a decade since the Man Machine Poem tour of 2016. A month of pure connection across the country.

This Friday, Aug 21, the band is releasing a live record of 29 tracks recorded across the tour, called “Live July 22 – August 20, 2016”. Mixed and mastered in Dolby Atmos by Mark Vreeken.

Then on Saturday, Aug 22, the CBC will re-air the final Kingston show. Worldwide and commercial-free. Starting off with a short film directed by Mike, featuring never-before-seen footage.

Ten years (to the day) that the final tour started, I had the chance to hear 8 songs off the upcoming live album from The Tragically Hip, in Dolby Atmos (or was it Dubly?). Fans won’t be disappointed! Can’t wait to hear the rest, next month. Highlights for me were ‘Something On’ and ‘Nautical Disaster’. Thanks to JD at The Tragically Hip Podcast Series for the invite!
