With its retro 70s decor and choice vintage gear FREQ SHOP takes you back to the golden age of sound recording, making it the perfect place to capture the magic of a studio performance. The 1000 sq ft multi-room facility is co-owned by Dave Traina & Derek Orsi and is located in Montreal, Canada.

ar driven by a 24x16 Pro Tools 10 HD6 Accel rig on MAC. Tube equipment, discrete class A preamplifiers, tape machines, plugins and virtual instruments populate the studio's FX rack creating a hybrid platform built for versatility in recording, mixing and mastering. FREQ SHOP offers both artists and producers a professional work environment within a cocoon of comfort. A live room, control room, iso booth and kitchen provide a variety of acoustic spaces while the lounge and courtyard are a great place to kick back and relax. The studio doubles as an electrifying live venue and is perfect for film screenings, photo shoots, video productions and seminars.

A couple of pics from our drum session with Alex Izzo for the forthcoming FEAR THE DEAN EP.

Alex has a pretty interesting setup! Drummers will surely pick up a few cool things like his suspended crashes, 70s style kick drum, his rack tom is actually a 14x14 floor tom, dude’s got a bongo in there too. But my favourite piece is his Steven Tyler inspired cowbell 👌🏻

Freq Shop is the perfect place to track drums. We built our live room, drum collection and mic locker for it! It also doesn’t hurt when your engineer has been behind the drums themselves for 30+ years.

We’re super excited to announce that will be performing their first ever show LIVE AT FREQ SHOP on Friday June 28!!! It’s gonna be 🔥🔥🔥

We’re big fans of the band and couldn’t be happier hosting them in what will surely be an unforgettable night. Check out our stories to listen to their music and to buy your tickets! There’s limited seating, so act fast!

Here’s your chance to watch two guitar virtuosos rip it up live inside the Freq Shop walls. Both and are phenomenal players and they’ll be backed by a stellar rhythm section. We also have opening the night, so there’ll be lots of great music to go around.

We did a huge drum R&D day yesterday at Freq Shop We went through and tested a lot of our gear, troubleshooted stuff and experimented a lot with drum sounds.

We brought in a new toy called the bot a device that helps you tune drums by measuring the frequency at each lug.

Man I was skeptical. I’ve tried so many gadgets over the years but dude…. This things rules! It surpassed my expectations by a mile!

Drums are TOUGH but this tool makes it so EASY to tune a drum perfectly. PERFECTLY… dude… dude… don’t sleep on it. As you can tell I’m pretty blown away.

Producers, engineers, drummers… Thank me later 🤘🏼
