TO ALL BURLESQUERS, FEMALE PERFORMERS, AND ALL AROUND KICK-ASS WOMEN AND QU**RS WHO WORK IN THE ARTS/ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY (PARTICULARLY THE TORONTO FOLKS): This past Halloween, I was invited to perform at Candyland Toronto. I was booked on their opening weekend and flew in for the gig. I still haven't been paid for it (the cheque bounced, and yes I've filed an ESC claim) -- the owner is simply ignoring all my attempts to contact him. (Post City Magazines and The Globe and Mail covered the owner and the opening of the club, wow, so cool... but this is what is REALLY happening). AND I'm not the only one that is owed money. I AM DONE BEING PATIENT, DONE BEING NICE. NO SYMPATHY FOR THE PATRIARCH. THIS BU****IT HAPPENS ALL TOO OFTEN IN THIS INDUSTRY. THERE IS AN ENTIRE HISTORY of (male) producers paying performers unfairly (if anything at all !!! ...... yeah, I don't need the fu***ng exposure, I need the MONEY to PAY FOR MY LIFE TUITION FOOD HEAT RENT thanks). IF YOU PROVIDE A SERVICE, YOU DESERVE FAIR PAY. END OF STORY. DON'T TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER. DON'T LISTEN TO SMOOTH TALK ABOUT RISING TO THE TOP. THEY DON'T INTEND ON ALLOWING YOU TO REACH THE TOP, BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE THEIR THRONE RESIDES. I produced The Blood Ballet Cabaret for years, and I always paid my performers, even if it meant I was going to lose money from my own pocket. That is the responsibility and risk that a producer takes on! THAT'S THE JOB. GET WITH IT. PLEASE SHARE. BYE.
