Jhalak Goes To The Theatre - Raga Rang

Kabir Center for Arts & Culture is collaborating with MC Janine-Sutto to showcase a night of Indian classical music and dance by the icon Usha Gupta Usha Gupta and her dance troupe.

Synopsis : Usha Gupta of Edmonton is a leading Canadian Kathak and Bharatanatyam artist, trained under legends Pandit Birju Maharaj and Guru Krishan Maharaj, who has spent decades shaping Indian classical dance in Canada. She founded Usha Kala Niketan, has toured internationally, and is an Edmonton Arts & Culture Hall of Fame inductee recognized for her lifelong contribution to dance. Now 84, she is making her last tour of Canada this year.

Jhalak will be participating as attendees of this prestigious event.

Tickets are free in person at the box office or cost 2 CAD online. Jhalak can reimburse the cost of 10 attendees who wish to purchase online.

We will meet at 7:30 PM at the doors.

Jhalak will be at the South Asian Film Festival of Montreal ( ) to celebrate a seminal piece of Marathi q***r cinema that made waves at Sundance 2025 - “Sabar Bonda”.

Synopsis: Anand, a 30-something city dweller compelled to spend a 10-day mourning period for his father in the rugged countryside of western India, tenderly bonds with a local farmer struggling to stay unmarried.

Jhalak will cover the tickets of up to 5 attendees. Register through link in bio.

We will be gathering at 6:30 PM to get our tickets and hangout before the movie. After the movie, we will head to a nearby pizza place to chill.
