The Art of Isabelle Truchon

The Art of Isabelle Truchon The Art of Isabelle Truchon is the culmination of my artistic creations and collections. I've been c I work in collections with a minimum of 40 pieces.

Creator and maker of fine contemporary art, my works gravitate towards natural environments, the textural, linear, and experimental. I am attracted to organic materials such as bones, bark, forest floor which I often incorporate in my creations. Ink and charcoal count among my most favorite media, yet I employ oil and cold wax most commonly. This practice allows me to evolve and grow as I study my subject and discover various new methods along the art making process.

Fire Horse 2026 - I haven’t painted galloping horses in a while and the upcoming 2026 Chinese zodiak, the Year of the Fire Horse inspired me for this sweet piece. One of my favorite quotes came to me at the thought; “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams, live the life you’ve imagined!” - Emerson

Among the wild herds of eastern Oregon, I once met a stallion who forever changed me, I call him, El Capitàn. I came across him and his band on horseback. He had sensed my approach for a while, I knew, from his stance and quiet strength as he waited for me to appear. He was not aggressive or wary of my presence, but resolute, grounded, and deeply connected to the horses around him. I’ve painted him more than any other subject in my collection. And every time is a renewed awakening and tribute to his form, the symbolism and weight he carries, his spirit and his grace.

Creating art is more complex than most people think. It requires introspection, perspective, thought, planning, decision making, and commitment. Much like how one should approach LIFE. Each art piece is in much the same way its own living experience and tells a story from the depths of the artist’s soul.

Lola and I on a recent visit ❤️

Whenever I am with her, I am reminded that doing nothing is something. That taking the time to contemplate, to walk, to daydream, to not have any plans is a worthy pursuit.

I find myself too often needing to be busy day to day and in future planning. That maybe if I am not, it means I am not producing anything of value, not reaching my goals, wasting time.

My horse teaches me that in fact, it’s those precious moments of seemingly doing nothing, that are the most meaningful. Those contemplation periods bring about compassion, mindfulness, beauty and serenity in my spirit. They also replenish me in positive ways, and help guide me back to my path whenever I get lost. Grateful for you, my sweet Lola 🥰🙏❤️

Ready to start on this photo-painting tonight. It’s been on my list for a couple years. This beautiful horse is from the Kiger herd in the Steens Mountain Wilderness of Oregon. If you’ve never been, you should consider a visit. The gorge is most spectacular and the wild horses that roam there are incredibly beautiful.
