« God’s Lite »
24 X 36
I stumbled about a month ago on that sentence on socials, that got stuck on a loop since then. Like a nursery rhyme, a mantra or an unsolvable riddle, I couldn’t shake it off and knew I had to use it in my next artwork. As a child, playing with a LiteBrite was pure magic. I’d watch my creations come to life, illuminating the darkness like a galaxy and falling asleep to their colourful glow beside my bed. But for over 60,000 children in Gaza, such simple joys are nothing but a dream. At night, going to bed with their empty bellies, they don’t know if they will make it through the next morning. And if they do, they might wake up alone without their loved ones. Since October 7th, over 15,000 innocent children have been among the roughly 40,000 civilians massacred by this genocide committed by Itsnotreal until now. Those who are following me on my other pages know own much I’ve been sharing the truth about the ongoing genocide in Gaza. While this isn’t my first artwork to denounce the atrocities of the apartheid state of Itsnotreal, it is the first to be that clear and loud about my stance on humanity. And what better symbol of clarity and brightness than a giant LiteBrite in space? This ongoing massacre of Palestinians made me realize how precious art can become in dark times like this and how important the voices of artists are. For every copy sold of « God’s Lite », 50% of proceeds will go the Un world food program. (Feel free to propose others nonprofits also)
