This pic from the Frankies really encapsulates the energy our beautiful lil creative team brought to this project; joy, pride (in more ways than one!), and community. I couldn't be more proud of us. The Festival St-Ambroise Fringe de Montréal might be over, but that's not all she wrote for Still Alive!! We're already looking to a bright future where we (hopefully!) get to pull it off again 🦋

And with that, it's time for our little show to step bravely into the unknown, as Fringe is officially over 🥹
What an awfully big adventure this has been. I would like to extend the biggest, warmest hugs to my wonderful little creative team, Rachel Renaud , Elisabeth Nyveen (Ly-zy Sunshine) and Alexander Luiz Cruz. We really created something, dare I say - magical? And to everyone who came out to see us, to cry along with Eva and -more importantly - to laugh with her: thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my glitchy little heart. It means so much to me that you came out to see my little show about being drenched in grief, and fear, and loss, and still somehow, against all odds, finding the magic, joy, and beauty in the world--and you LIKED it! Wow! I keep saying that if I gained a year of life for every kind word said about the show, I'd be well on my way to immortality.
To the people who waited for me outside every show to tell me they felt seen, that we broke their hearts and put them back together, that they have a new reason to get out of bed in the morning, that we were their favourite show this year (!!!), I leave you with these parting words: To LIVE, would be an awfully big adventure. And everything... Everything will be GREAT! 💙🦋

!! THIS JUST IN !! I'm honored to announce that Still Alive @ the Festival St-Ambroise Fringe de Montréal has been nominated for the Frankies Outstanding English Text Award, presented by Playwrights Guild of Canada !! 💙
Five years ago, sitting alone in an empty black box theatre, I wrote a story about a girl coming to terms with her own mortality while still managing to find so much joy in her everyday life. Still Alive has come a long way since then, and I'm so delighted that someone read my silly little show about Peter Pan, q***r joy, and coming to terms with one's mortality and thought "Yes. This we like."
Special thanks to Danielle Keiko Eyer, Rachel Renaud and Ly-zy Sunshine for all your writing feedback throughout this process, and extra special thanks to all the decrepit old doctors who "inspired" me to write about my medical trauma experience; in my own moment of everyday magic, I turned your bu****it into ART ✌️
Congratulations to all my fellow nominees, I can't wait to see all your shows!!

STILL ALIVE OPENS TONIGHT!!! AHHHHHH!!! 😱😱😱
In honor of opening night, I would like to formally introduce the last member of our 'team' - our protagonist, Eva. 🦋
Eva is a 25-year old woman who is really just trying to live. This is a little difficult, thanks in no small part to a rare heart condition she's had for the past 10 years! Despite that, Eva takes comfort in the little things that often go overlooked that make life special, like Peter Pan, or the fact that butterflies taste with their feet. When she's not busy making terrible jokes about being dead soon (laughter is the best medicine!), Eva can be found getting bubble tea with her partner Morgan, talking on the phone with her ever supportive mom, or venting to her best friend Beth about something dumb that happened. 💙

Tech rehearsal!! ✨️ We got into the space today and ran through all our lighting and sound cues IN UNDER 2 HOURS, which if you know anything about theatre you know is quite the feat 💪I'm so glad I have this amazing team of human beings to keep me going and bring this show to the world 💙
