“Jacques Cartier bridge from Old port, Montreal“
This acrylic painting is a very filtered out image from what my mind has captured each time I go to old port, Montreal ! Over the last four and a half years this place and view has been my all time favourite, most calming, therapeutic, joyful, satisfying and exciting place to just go to at any time of the day. I wouldn’t lie if I say if I have seen this view round the clock ( during different visits ofcourse ! ). Just a 20 minute walk from downtown, it is always exciting to walk down and absorb the positivity, Color and liveliness this place has to offer !
I remember walking to old port almost every week in the last quarter of 2018 to cope up with cultural and academic changes ! As a research intern in 2019, I walked there hoping to think of new ideas and dimensions to whatever I was working on. Post pandemic, it became my go to place to show people Montreal. It rejuvenates me each time I go !
I experienced my first snowfall and also my first all nighter there to watch sunrise ! It’s not boating or zip line that’s the most exciting about this place, to me it is the calmness admits all chaos that this place offers ! The street food around this place is fantastic and during summer this place offers the best vegan poutine and chocolate ice cream !
As seasons change you get to experience different activities from ice skating , Canada Day fireworks, the world famous circus shows by Montreal’s own , zip line and a bunch of other things !
My painting doesn’t capture even a tiny bit of this amazing beauty but this is the best I could do !
Finally, hope this new year brings the best for all of us!
