The Keeper is going on tour!

The Keeper is a multidisciplinary ensemble play, inspired by the life & work of Ferdowsi, the great Iranian poet and the savior of the Persian language and his magnum opus “The Shahnameh”; the play takes us through the world of myths, legends, love, politics and tragedy as we explore stories’ capacity to preserve our hope in a hostile world.

Created by Banafsheh Taherian, this captivating 90-minute one-woman show transforms the ancient Persian epic into a modern romantic comedy.

🎭 For the first time in Iranian theatre and literature history, the epic story of Khosrow and Shirin will be performed in a romantic comedy style—staying true to the original text, with no characters omitted and no censorship.
Banafsheh Taherian, known for her acclaimed podcast “Chai with Banafsheh,” brings 15 vibrant characters to life, showcasing her versatility as both a performer and storyteller.
