Please join us at daphne on Friday, June 19th, from 7-9 pm for a double celebration! In Gallery 2 we present Luke Parnell’s solo exhibition, “Skén:non akéhake tsi na’teiónteron / Relational Remediation”. Luke has travelled all the way from his home territory to be in attendance!

Luke Parnell (Haida and Nisga’a) is known for his traditional Northwest Coast drawings and wood carvings, as well as his boardgames!

We are also taking the moment to fête, darlings, the inauguration at the Conseil des arts de Montreal, of Skawennati’s temporary public art project, “Kwahrharatstén:ni | Promise”. We have printed and hung a large photograph of the Maison du CAM, along with a QR code, that, when scanned, will allow you to experience the Augmented Reality component of her piece, almost as if you were at the CAM! daphne is proud to have supported Skawennati, one of our co-founders, in realizing this new artwork.

Using digital media to imagine Indigenous futures, Skawennati brings together traditional knowledge and emerging technologies in this new site-specific artwork.

Luke Parnell (Haida et Nisga’a) est connu pour son art traditionnel de la côte du Nord-Ouest, intégrant dessins et sculptures en bois, ainsi que ses jeux de société!

Nous prenons également un moment pour fêter l’inauguration du projet d’œuvre d’art publique éphémère de notre cofondatrice Skawennati, nommé “Kwahrharatstén:ni | Promesse”, au Conseil des arts de Montréal. Nous avons fait imprimer une grande photographie de la Maison du CAM qui sera suspendue dans notre galerie, en plus d’un code QR. Quand il est scanné, vous pourrez vivre l’expérience du morceau de Réalité augmentée allant avec l’œuvre, comme si vous étiez au CAM! daphne est fièr.e d’avoir soutenu Skawennati dans la réalisation de cette nouvelle œuvre.

Connue pour ses œuvres autochtones futuristes, utilisant des médias numériques de façon innovative, Skawennati combine les savoirs traditionnels et les technologies émergentes dans cette nouvelle œuvre in-situ.

daphne is excited for the inauguration of a new temporary public art project, titled “Kwahrharatstén:ni | Promise”, by co-founder Skawennati, on Wednesday, June 17, at 12:30 pm! The giant columns at the Maison du CAM (Gaston-Miron Building) will be wrapped in colourful patterns of corn, beans and squash, paired with an Augmented Reality piece. You will be able to experience it all summer, day and night, until the end of September. If you’re taking a stroll at the park Lafontaine, head to the CAM and scan the QR code to see the Three Sisters rapping about their current mission!

This project was commissioned by the CAM and is administered by daphne and co-produced by AbTeC.

daphne a hâte à l’inauguration du nouveau projet d’œuvre d’art publique éphémère de notre cofondatrice Skawennati, nommé Kwahrharatstén:ni | Promesse. Celui-ci sera inauguré mercredi le 17 juin à 12h30 et sera visible tout l’été jusqu’en septembre! Les colonnes de la Maison du CAM (édifice Gaston-Miron) seront enveloppées d’un vinyle avec des motifs colorés de maïs, haricots et courges. L’œuvre est accompagnée par ses Trois Sœurs rappant à propos de leur mission du moment, visibles en réalité augmentée. Si vous vous baladez au parc Lafontaine, prenez 5 minutes pour scanner le code QR au CAM et les voir chanter!

Ce projet est commandité par le CAM, administré par daphne et coproduit par AbTeC.

daphne is excited to offer a game development workshop with artist Luke Parnell to accompany his solo exhibition, “Relational Remediation”. The second of two game-related workshops, this one takes place on Thursday June 18 from 4-7pm. Luke will host a hands-on, interactive session on storytelling with card games! Participants will look at a few traditional card games and develop them into modern card games that reflect our stories. In a small group format, participants will brainstorm ideas, make simple prototypes, playtest them, iterate them and present them to the class. Workshop supplies will be provided.

Nous vous invitons à un atelier de développement de jeu jeudi le 18 juin de 16h-19h. Luke Parnell donnera un atelier sur la narration dans les jeux de société avec un jeu de cartes. Les participants analyzeront des jeux de cartes traditionnels et en développeront des nouveaux qui reflètent nos réalités contemporaines. En petits groupes, les participants feront des tempêtes d’idées, faire des prototypes, les tester et les présenteront aux autres. Les matériaux seront fournis pour les ateliers.

daphne is excited to offer a playtesting session with artist Luke Parnell to accompany his solo exhibition, “Relational Remediation”. The first of two game-related workshops, this one takes place Wednesday, June 17, from 6-9 pm. Participants will play newly developed board and card games, made by other participants and the artist, and offer feedback, identify bugs and evaluate the experience of playing the games. You are welcome to bring games that you have made or are working on.

daphne is delighted to present “Remédiation Relationnelle / Skén:non akéhake tsi na’teiónteron / Relational Remediation” by Luke Parnell. The exhibition is open to the public as of now, and the vernissage with the artist in attendance will be Friday June 19 from 7-9 pm! Luke Parnell is a Northwest coast artist with Haida and Nisga’a heritage. He is known for his traditional Northwest Coast drawings and wood carvings, as well as his boardgames! His art mixes Northwest Coast Indigenous histories and Northwest Coast Indigenous art.

daphne est enchanté.e de présenter « Remédiation Relationnelle / Skén:non akéhake tsi na’teiónteron / Relational Remediation » par l’artiste Luke Parnell. L’exposition est visible dès maintenant à daphne! Le vernissage sera vendredi le 19 juin de 19h-21h en présence de l’artiste. Luke Parnell est un artiste de la côte du Nord-Ouest, d’héritage Haida et Nisga’a. Il est connu pour son art traditionnel de la côte du Nord-Ouest, intégrant dessins et sculptures en bois, ainsi que les jeux de société! daphne was proud to host The Permanent People’s Tribunal on Missing Indigenous Children and Unmarked Graves from May 25-29. It was an incredible event, both in terms of organization and intensity. From the international panel of judges, the lawyer and her team, the emotional support team, the staff of both the Native Women’s Shelter (who were the organizers) and daphne, to the art, ceremony, catering and beautiful tent set up as a safe, private area for anyone who needed a moment, so many details were considered. The tribunal heard testimonies about Canada’s role in genocide and crimes against humanity against the Indigenous peoples of this land. The Judgement will be announced on September 20 2026.

daphne est fier.e d’avoir fourni l’espace physique qui a permis au Tribunal permanent des peuples sur les enfants autochtones disparus et les tombes anonymes de se dérouler à Montréal du 25 au 29 mai. Le TPP, initié et organisé par le Foyer pour femmes autochtones de Montréal, était un évènement émotionnel, important et bien organisé. Tant de détails ont été pris en considération et prévus d’avance; du panel de juges internationaux, l’avocate et son équipe, l’équipe de soutien émotionnel, les employés du Foyer pour femmes autochtones de Montréal et de daphne, à l’art, la cérémonie, le service traiteur et la tente qui offrait un endroit privé à ceux qui en avait de besoin. Le tribunal a entendu et écouté des témoignages portant sur le génocide et les crimes contre l’humanité commis par le Canada envers les peuples autochtones de l’Amérique du Nord. Le jugement final sera annoncé le 30 septembre 2026.

Please meet the third of daphne’s four summer interns!!

“Hi! My name is Zoe Gesaset-Gloqowej Lee. This summer, I will be working at daphne as their 2026 Canada Summer Works intern. I am Mi’kmaq from Listuguj First Nation. I currently study Honours Sociology, Indigenous Studies, and Political Science at McGill University. I paint, knit, and draw digital illustrations. Art and Indigenous politics are two domains that I am deeply passionate about, and working at daphne is an exciting opportunity to explore both worlds. I look forward to my time with daphne this summer, supporting this artist-run art center and promoting the works of contemporary Indigenous artists. My responsibilities this summer include event planning support, mural planning, and other support duties.”

« Bonjour! Mon nom est Zoe Gesaset-Gloqowej Lee. Cet été, je vais travailler à daphne en tant que leur stagiaire de Jeunesse Canada au travail 2026. Je suis Mi’kmaq de la Première nation Listuguj. J’étudie présentement en Sociologie (avec honneurs), Études autochtones et Science politique à l’université McGill. Je peins, tricote et dessine des illustrations digitales. L’art et la politique autochtone sont deux domaines qui me passionnent énormément, et travailler à daphne est une opportunité excitante pour explorer ces deux sujets. J’ai hâte de travailler à daphne cet été, soutenir ce centre d’artistes autogéré et promouvoir les œuvres et le travail d’artistes autochtones contemporains. Mes responsabilités de cet été comprennent l’aide à la planification d’évènements, d’une murale, etc. »
