Née à Marrakech, Anissa Boukili El Hassani est une artiste multidisciplinaire et poète maroco-canadienne installée à Tio’Tia:ke (Montréal). Titulaire d’un diplôme d’études en arts visuels du Cégep du Vieux Montréal, elle complète un baccalauréat en Studio Arts à université Concordia en 2022. Ses œuvres d’art visuel ont été présentées au sein d’expositions collectives à la galerie Gham et Dafe, à l’Atrium & Studio-Théâtre des Grands Ballets, à la galerie VAV et à la galerie Parc Offsite. Elle a à son actif deux expositions solos, « Contrefaçon » à la galerie Aussenwelt, en 2021 et « Dichotomies » au Canif du Cégep du Vieux Montréal, en 2018.
« L’océan est un cri qu’on n’entend pas » est un projet de recherche-création sur les relations entre la science, la technologie et l’histoire coloniale. Il s’agira d’un projet d’installation immersive d’audio, de vidéo et de poésie.
Le projet découle d’une fascination pour les répétitions dans la nature. Notamment, entre les vagues marines et les ondes sonores; celles-ci possédant des représentations mathématiques identiques. Ce projet posera un regard sur les points d’intersection de ces phénomènes naturels en entrant en dialogue avec l’Atlantique, cet entre-deux, qui sépare mes chez-moi, le Québec et le Maroc. L’installation se structurera autour de la transformation des vagues marines en ondes sonores. Elle prendra forme lors d’une traversée transatlantique en voilier. Le périple vers les côtes marocaines sera une façon de me donner un espace de réflexion sur l’état de tiraillement qu’amène la double identité et sur la lourde histoire que tient l’océan Atlantique. Cette traversée sera un moyen de décoloniser l’océan en empruntant les mêmes routes qu’ont prises autrefois les colonisateurs.
L'œuvre effectuée lors de la résidence à Eastern bloc est un prototype miniature de la traversée qui sera en 2024.

« L’océan est un cri qu’on n’entend pas » (" The ocean is a scream that we don’t hear ") is a research-creation project on the relationship between science, technology and colonial history. It will be an immersive installation project of audio, video and poetry.
The project stems from a fascination with repetitions in nature. In particular, between sea waves and sound waves; these two having identical mathematical representations. This project will take a look at the points of intersection of these natural phenomena by entering into dialogue with the Atlantic ocean, this in-between, which separates my homes, Quebec and Morocco. The installation will be structured around the transformation of sea waves into sound waves. It will take shape during a transatlantic crossing by sailboat. The journey to the Moroccan coast will be a way to give me space to reflect on the state of tension brought about by the double identity and on the heavy history that the Atlantic Ocean holds. This crossing will be a way to decolonize the ocean by taking the same routes that the colonizers once took.
The work done during the residency at Eastern bloc is a miniature prototype of the crossing that will be in 2024.
