Did anyone else see Metric that time they came to Victoria and played Legends Nightclub? I recall the performance of this song, wherein Emily Haines does the head banging and then sings the line “now that’s entertainment.” Now thay’s prosody!
Anyway, I’m just thinking back on some of the early experiences that put me into a deep love for music. I still love these old Metric albums. The band cuts into a rage that I need to welcome sometimes. I often find myself sining “buy this car to drive to work, drive to work to pay for this car.” It’s those simple, political words that snag on me. Then there’s the wildly abstract words that remind me that it’s also ok for lyrics to simply convey a pleasant sound. I miss writing. I haven’t written a new song in some.. two years? It’ll come. I feel little sticks and leaves piling up in the eaves and as rain falls seemingly steady and peaceful, time will tell.
