Our hope and goal at Anticapital Records is to give voice to those oft-unheard and to create a sense of community through sound recording -- we like to also think of our work as a stepping stone for our underrepresented sisters, brothers, and fellow humans who may be beginning or continuing on a path of sound creation. Anticapital Records acknowledges the fact that we're working and living on unceded land. We are on the traditional territory of the Kanien’kehá:ka (‘People of the Flint,’ also known as ‘Mohawk’). The Kanien’kehá:ka are one of the five founding Nations of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and were referred to as the ‘Keepers of the Eastern Door.’ This island that we call Montreal is known as Tiotia:ke in the language of the Kanien’kehá:ka, and has historically served as a meeting place for other Indigenous nations.
