HJEM Techno podcast and techno culture identity Hjem rises to this challenge through collaborative and constructive nuance.

By honouring the consistent rhythms found in techno we offer the objective and the subjective, in which all things come together to create positive and progressive atmospheres for all who seek them.

If the agonizing wait of the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that momentum is rising. We are no longer sitting on hands in a state of inertia, we are no longer biting the tongue in anticipation. This is not a slow-jam summer. This is why we are excited to return to our audience with Montreal local DJ/producer, Dylan Cherry. In this very special extended set curated for our Hjem audience, Dylan Cherry reveals his acuity for authentic groove techno saturated with chronic loops and imaginative minimal accessions. Contained within an esoteric composition, Cherry’s sound suggests a paradox between high energy and embodied control through the use of hypnotic layers and emphatic, jazzy highs. Considering his moderately recent experience in production, Cherry’s knowledge demonstrates a history of techno cultivation, which can be felt in sustained synth, textured inflection, and narcotic-adjacent vocal selections. Anthropomorphizing tracks as intuitive, Cherry refers to ‘flow-state’ consciousness during a set, which intersects an audio experience of controlled timbre. This enigmatic transfer between artist and audience unifies Cherry’s perception of sound as a limitless phenomenon. Correspondingly, Cherry’s future interests favour an observant ear through experimentation methods in his production work. In this set, listeners will detect Dylan Cherry’s consistency in delicately formed oscillations, silky transitions, and seductive kick resonance. Prepare to be moved, and please enjoy Hjem 014 with Dylan Cherry.

For the thirteenth edition of Hjem podcast we welcome our second international artist from Denver, Colorado, USA, Robonix. Inspired by his older brother to begin DJing in the late nineties, a productive time for ingenuity in electronic music, Robonix turned to artists that partnered dark and driving Techno with its subgenres, namely Dub Techno, Breaks, and Electro. Stimulated by fast-paced and minimalistic veterans such as Truncate, Setaoc Mass, Ben Klock and Luke Slater, and later through other likeminded artists such as Marrøn (Eerste Communie), and labels such as Rote Sonne, Autonome, and TWR72’s Float Records, Robonix galvanized his neoteric sound. In the liminality of peace and chaos, Robonix defines his sound as a collaboration of driving and hypnotic temperament within the psychedelic arena. Mixing for over a decade, Robonix has also been producing for five years with integrity to connect audience to the cerebral and physical qualities of Techno. Having released through Colorado home-based labels such as JourneyDeep and Quite Right! Records, Robonix has also captured the ears of Italy based Mind Games Records. In a conscious effort to platform the underground Denver scene, Robonix is mindful to cultivate relationships with unified promotors and artists elsewhere. For Hjem listeners, Robonix brings a riveting aggregation of this experience in diverse and potent track selections. Each transition allows for the analytical digestion and corporeal exploration of sound as an artful experience. With amorous vocal samples and judicious finesse, Robonix offers our listeners passionate vitality in this extended set.

Hjem 012: No Police

In the depths of the ocean, a swiftly moving current gathers momentum, undulating towards the surface crest. In secured revolutions and maintained intensity, the roll drifts ad infinitum. Oscillating the shores of the eardrum, grazing the sands of the surface membrane, weathering the rocks of an emotional landscape, and returning to its origin with the frenzy of the audience.

For the twelfth edition of Hjem podcast we affectionately welcome Montreal local and newly monikered queen of the rollers, No Police. Despite a recent entrance to mixing and producing, No Police has obtained a firm grip of honest Techno composition, proving flexibility and integrity as key components to her craft. Following a parental dedication to musical curiosities and exposure of The Beatles and Punk influence, No Police conveys an aptitude for sounds that explore content and form. Skillful artists such as MRD seize her interests in soundscape configuration, pushing an initiative to create cerebral and adventurous sets for her audience.
As the pandemic has served as a gateway to furthering her ambitions in production and mixing, No Police considers support to peers, including Osccurate, Faster Horses, Artisan, Quinten McKee, Luap, Eyerate, and Romensdawn, as essential in her growth. In addition to this, No Police holds a SPACES residency with vinyl techno artist SASS.& through local Montreal live Techno station La Face B. While No Police typically sways toward entrancing, unrelenting tracks known for sweating warehouse walls, a desire for inclusion and diversity within the universality of music is cultivated in her practice. In this edition for Hjem podcast, a delightful detour operating between hyper-responsive textures and diligent kicks in a passionately hypnotic set is offered to our audience. Please welcome No Police.

In an investigatory arena of sound replete with layers of vibration and texture, where subtleties coalesce with severity, where form and function create a purposeful structure and give pleasure to the senses, is where we find Hjem podcast’s eleventh artist, Montreal local, Le Binch. From his 2008 beginnings in mixing and track collecting to a recent and uncompromising enthusiasm in production, Le Binch’s style has evolved into a multidimensional expertise in musical adventure. Inspired by artists in like-minded enterprise such as Pan-Pot, Hans Bouffmyhre, Rødhåd, Yan Cook and Vinicious Honorio, Le Binch offers divergent and imaginative charms to feed the cognitive appetite that is essential to the purist Techno audience. In marathon fashion, Le Binch selects tracks that unite cheeky and eccentric explorations with hypnotic protraction, inclusive of a range of subgenre influences such as electro-industrial, German new-wave and groovy EBM. Apart from these attributes, Le Binch holds a rare gift for break arrangements, composing experimental and alluring intermissions that keep the audience committed. In addition to this, listeners can expect universal themes of community, empowerment, accountability, open-mindedness, and reflection in his vocal track selections. An evident suggestion to participate in the Techno community as a whole. Currently focusing on individuality and identity in track production, Le Binch endeavors to release tracks that align with the vast Techno spectrum that he enjoys playing. In ambulatory character, Hjem welcomes Le Binch.
