The Q***r Reading Series is back on May 14 and 15 at the Centaur Theatre!

Join us for two readings of dynamic new works-in-progress by Q***r artists! Running for the 6th year, PWM in partnership with Centaur Theatre is once again giving centre-stage to early-career 2SLGBTQIA+ playwrights.

On May 14 and 15 at 7:30PM, Centaur Theatre will host “Not Just Empty Space” by Sarah Danielle Pitman and “Dylan’s Song” by Anna Morreale. Each performance will be followed by a conversation with the creative team.

The Q***r Reading Series is a FREE event! Donations help us keep our programming free to artists, and will be gratefully accepted at the door.

Both readings will be presented with English captions, and the conversations will be presented with auto-generated captioning, for accessibility purposes.

Visit our bio to reserve your free ticket via the Centaur Theatre box office.

Visceral and poetically raw, AKUTEU takes us on an intimate journey through fragments of personal narratives. A young Innu woman shares her perspective on blending into a predominantly white society and questions the contradictions that forge her identity, her legitimacy to speak on behalf of her people, and the delicate responsibility that entails. AKUTEU evokes the emptiness and vertigo of being constantly suspended between two worlds.

AKUTEU
Written and Directed by Soleil Launière
Translated by Mishka Lavigne
January 27 – February 6, 2027

The English-language world premiere of AKUTEU is An Imago Theatre and Production AUEN Co-Production, in collaboration with La Chapelle Scènes Contemporaines. The translation of AKUTEU was developed in collaboration with Playwrights' Workshop Montréal.

What’s it like to have Deaf parents? A wry investigation.

CODA is a hearing child of Deaf parents. She has always seen her life as normal despite being told otherwise. Again. And again. And again.

In an attempt to explain her life to curious outsiders, CODA invites us into her world, as she traces the not-so-distant histories that have shaped her family and community. Through Deaf cultural storytelling and humour, she shares personal stories and pushes back against the assumptions made about her parents.

Blending American Sign Language, spoken English, and movement within a vivid digital landscape, THE SOUND OF DOGS builds a layered world of expression and connection. Both intimate and expansive, it celebrates the beauty and complexity of Deaf culture (with a touch of mischief).
