CALL FOR APPLICATIONS \ Taking to the Road - a discussion group and writing workshop facilitated by Leni Krivy and Maureen Labonté.

Readers! Writers! Theatre artists! Join us at Imago Theatre for 6 weeks of reading, discussion, and writing.

Together, we will explore road stories centred on women and investigate other perspectives that have been left behind. We will consider how road stories can be told across different mediums, including theatre, film, and short fiction. At the end of our journey, participants will have the opportunity to begin writing their own road stories through a series of dedicated workshops.

Learn more, and apply by October 1 at: https://www.imagotheatre.ca/taking-to-the-road

No previous experience in any discipline is required. Meetings run from October 19, 2026 - January 25, 2027.

In THE SOUND OF DOGS, Chorus Member #2 is played by Ebony Gooden!

Ebony R. Gooden is a filmmaker, artist, and community builder dedicated to creating what BIPOC Deaf communities need to thrive. As a community builder, she founded Deafinitely Digital and co-founded multiple initiatives including Survivance Collective and Silent Soul Studio, building platforms that amplify marginalized voices.

Working across Calgary's arts ecosystem with organizations like Inside Out Theatre, QuickDraw Animation Society, and Ghost River Theatre, Ebony transforms spaces through bold storytelling and accessibility innovation.

Supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, Calgary Arts Development and Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Ebony's work challenges traditional forms while creating safe spaces for BIPOC Deaf artists to be seen, heard, and celebrated. Through her intersectional lens as the Black Deaf artist in Calgary, she bridges communities and drives systemic change in the arts landscape.

Her previous work includes: The Little Prince (Theatre Passe Muraille), 100 Years of Darkness (Landon Krentz / Inside Out Theatre), Squeaky Wheel Season 2 (Hits By Entertainment - Writer).

Poster reveal!

THE SOUND OF DOGS poster is illustrated by Meky Ottawa, based on a design by Sera Kassab. It features one of the handshapes from the ASL sign for THE SOUND OF DOGS, emerging from a community of concentric circles. This handshape can be played with to express different emotions and intentions, including the laughter, tears, joy, and frustration depicted here, mirroring moments from CODA’s experiences.

Meky previously illustrated the poster for our 2021 English language premiere of OKINUM and we’re incredibly happy to be collaborating with her again.
