🌿 بين قاسيون والربوة - Bayna Qasyounin Wa Rabwa

دمشق في صوت فيروز. أقدم عاصمة مأهولة في تاريخ البشرية، تختزل ٤,٥٠٠ سنة بين جبل قاسيون والربوة. الياسمين، والفجر، وضوء الغوطة، وعمر بشري طويل جداً.

غنّت فيروز للشام كثيراً، لكن قليلة هي الأغاني اللي تحتفي بدمشق بهذا العمق.

في حفل "موشحات" سنة ٢٠٢٢، قدمنا هذه القطعة ضمن برنامج يحتفي بتراث الموسيقى العربية الكلاسيكية والشعبية بكل تنوعها.

Fairuz's voice for Damascus. One of the oldest continuously inhabited capitals in human history, 4,500 years of life held between Mount Qassyoun and the Rabwa. Jasmine, dawn, Ghouta light - and the long human memory of a city.

At our 2022 Muwashahat concert we performed this piece in a program celebrating the diversity of Arab musical heritage.

🎼 انت عمري — Enta Omri (1964)

في فبراير ١٩٦٤، التقى عبد الوهاب وأم كلثوم لأول مرة في تسجيل واحد. الأمر اللي تأخر سنوات، صار حدثاً ثقافياً عبر العالم العربي كله. "انت عمري" — كلمات أحمد شفيق كامل، لحن عبد الوهاب، صوت أم كلثوم — وثّقت لقاء العمالقة.

ستون سنة بعدها، تبقى هذه الأغنية إحدى أعظم لحظات الموسيقى العربية الحديثة.

في حفل "Nostalgia" سنة ٢٠٢١ خصصنا لها موقعاً في برنامج الأمسية.

In February 1964, Oum Kalthoum and Mohammed Abdel Wahab finally recorded together for the first time. The collaboration, long anticipated, was treated across the Arab world as a cultural event. "Enta Omri" — lyrics by Ahmed Shafiq Kamel, composed by Abdel Wahab, sung by Oum Kalthoum — became the document of that meeting.

Sixty years later, it remains one of the high points of modern Arabic music.

At our 2021 Nostalgia concert, we honored it with a place in the program.

Foq El Nakhel | فوق إلنا خل

أغنية عراقية شعبية من أعمق ما أنتجته الذاكرة العراقية. خلّدها صوت ناظم الغزالي (١٩٢١–١٩٦٣) في القرن العشرين، وحولها من أغنية محلية إلى كلاسيكية عربية تعرفها أجيال.

الموسيقى العراقية مدرسة قائمة بذاتها بين الموسيقات العربية — مقاماتها وتقاليدها الصوتية وإحساسها تجعلها عالماً مستقلاً.

في حفل "موشحات" سنة ٢٠٢٢، قدمنا "فوق النخل" ضمن برنامج يحتفي بتعدد التراث الموسيقي العربي.

"Foq El Nakhal" is one of the deepest folk songs in the Iraqi tradition, immortalized in the 20th century by Nazem Al-Ghazali (1921–1963). Iraqi music holds a place of its own among Arab traditions — its maqam vocabulary, vocal style, and emotional register form a school all their own.

🎼 الحلوة دي — El Helwa De

سيد درويش (١٨٩٢–١٩٢٣) عاش ٣١ سنة فقط وأعاد فيها تأسيس الموسيقى المصرية الحديثة. هو من نقلها من سيطرة المقامات العثمانية إلى لغة الشارع المصري — أغاني الباعة والعمال والصنايعية والفلاحين.

"الحلوة دي" أغنية الفجر اللي كتبها سنة ١٩١٩، ولا تزال تُعزف وتُحفظ في كل بيت عربي بعد أكثر من قرن.

في حفل "Nostalgia" سنة ٢٠٢١ خصصنا له موقعاً في برنامج الأمسية، تكريماً للرجل اللي بنى مدرسة بمفرده.

Sayed Darwish (1892–1923) lived just 31 years and rebuilt Egyptian music in that short time, moving it from Ottoman classical conventions toward the everyday language of Cairo's streets — its workers, vendors, and craftsmen.

"El Helwa De," his 1919 dawn song, is still sung in Arab households a century later.
