And just like that, our Wild and Gentle journey comes to an end… for now🥹

What started as a little creative challenge turned into so much more: new artwork, new ideas, unexpected discoveries, and a beautiful excuse to explore what happens when two completely different creative universes meet.

We have loved creating this world together, and to tell you the truth… we are not quite ready to leave it behind.

So this might not be goodbye after all 😉 We have a few ideas about where Wild and Gentle could go next…

For now, thank you for coming along for the journey, for creating with us, and for making this little world feel a little bigger. 🤍

Something tells us this is only the beginning 🐾

This is my entry for the Spoonflower Hydrangea Challenge 😊

I originally planned to create this hydrangea design in soft bluish lavender and lilac tones (and I did draw it like that!)… but then I went down a little rabbit hole exploring some of Benjamin Moore’s bestselling colours. And oh my... there are so... MANY... GORGEOUS... COLOURS! I just couldn't resist!

Anyways, for this entry I chose:
- Chantilly Lace for the lush, creamy hydrangea blooms,
- Aegean Teal for the textured, slightly weathered leaves,
- Van Deusen Blue for that deep, timeless background.

The result feels classic, a little moody, and right at home in both traditional and modern interiors.

P.S. Wait until you see the other colour combinations! Some are super yummy, while others are soft and dreamy. 👀✨

Week 4 of !
This week, we meet the Red Spitting Cobra at Dusk 🐍

When threatened, spitting cobras spray venom at a distance, aimed straight at the eyes, protecting themselves without ever needing to strike. It looks like aggression, but it's selfdefense. No contact required. Just a very clear, very effective boundary.

𝗦𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸'𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀: 𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀.
(Something artists, especially the ADHD ones like me 😅, tend to struggle with).
You can be gentle and still protect yourself. You can care deeply and still say no. You can be soft while still holding the line.

It's Week 3 of ! Time flies! 🤍
We start this Monday with 𝗢𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 + 𝗥𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 🦦

Unlike sea otters, river otters don't keep a favourite rock tucked away. They don't need one... no shellfish-cracking here. So what's with all the rock and stick play? They roll it, toss it, pass it rapidly between paws and chest, just because. That behaviour is sometimes called "juggling". Isn't it the cutest?!

There’s no obvious practical reason behind it. It doesn’t feed them or protect them. It is curiosity and intelligence with nowhere to be, just pure entertainment.
Which brings us to 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸’𝘀 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿:
𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝘁.

Not everything you make needs a purpose. Not every drawing has to become a product, and not every idea needs to become an application. Sometimes the reason to create is simply that it feels good and brings you joy.
𝗟𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸!

Can you believe we are already on Week 2 of ? 👀😁

We are so grateful for all the lovely feedback you have shared so far, and for everyone who has joined us, created something, or even just thought, “hmm… maybe I should try this!”... (𝘺𝘦𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥, 𝘩𝘢𝘩𝘢🙃)
It truly means a lot to both Jessica and me. Thank you, thank you!

𝗦𝗼... 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸’𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘁? 𝗪𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲 + 𝗦𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 🐾
Wolverines are built for some seriously tough places. They are famous for their strength, fierce independence, and ability to survive in extremely cold northern wilderness.

They also tend to roam alone, travelling across huge territories on their own. So while working on the composition, I kept thinking about that...
𝗕𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗹𝘆.

There's something so powerful about being completely content in your own company. About not needing constant validation, approval, or someone else watching to know that you are enough, that you are whole on your own…
So my wolverine crosses a fallen log, and its reflection below completes the circle, symbolising its wholeness.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸’𝘀 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿: 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲.
You don't have to have someone’s validation to be worthy, and you don't have to be needed to be complete. The version of you that shows up when no one’s watching still counts.
You are allowed, and you absolutely deserve (!), to simply be yourself and feel at home there. 🤎

Today we begin, yay!✨A month of art, inspired by animals who somehow already know what we are all trying to learn.

𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟏 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐧 + 𝐎𝐜𝐞𝐚𝐧.
Every year this small bird flies from one end of the earth to the other and back. No map. No plan laid out in advance. Just wings, instinct, and the next stretch of sky.
I absolutely love that!

You don't need every step mapped out before you start. The next small move is enough. Some part of you already knows the direction, even if the whole path hasn't unfolded yet.

Sometimes the deadline wins… and that's ok 🌼

If you check my stories, you probably remember that I ended up finishing these botanical illustrations a little too late for the latest Spoonflower challenge. After months of entering every single challenge, this is the first one I have missed since December.

A tiny part of me was disappointed. I had a completely different vision for the final pattern, and I kept trying to squeeze in “just one more hour” instead of listening to my body... pushed myself to meet that deadline.

But here’s the funny thing… Even though I missed it, I ended up with illustrations that I genuinely love. Sunflower is oldie, but I gave it a little bit of refresh. Dandelion and Bird’s-foot trefoil are brand new (and yes… I may have become slightly obsessed with drawing roots, I had no idea it's so much fun 😄). There's supposed to be a California Bush Sunflower too, but I haven't finished it... yet!

Anyways, instead of seeing them as “unused”, I can already imagine them becoming wallpaper, fabric, stationery, greeting cards, botanical prints, journal pages… maybe even something I have not thought of yet.

Not every illustration has to meet a deadline. Some are simply planting seeds for future collections 🙃 So I am choosing to celebrate what was created, instead of dwelling on what was missed.
