Meet the 2025 Cohort of the Prismatic BIPOC Residency!
We’re proud to introduce our second collaborative team— and

Jennifer Luxmore-Begin is a creative, musician and educator, settler-Anishinaabe woman with roots in Mattagami First Nation. As an educator and artist, Jenn creates community, connection and embodiment of culture in everyday life. She believes in the power of play and upcycling to fuel our creativity, she is a mixed media artist and bead artist.

Sereen’s artistic practice is rooted in a desire to create beautiful scenes, whether personal, cultural, or imagined, that evoke a sense of wonder and introspection, and the quiet allure of nature. She primarily works in gouache, oil, and ink, and draws inspiration from the natural world, old storybook illustrations, surrealist imagery, and bold, moody colour palettes.

Meet the 2025 Cohort of the Prismatic BIPOC Residency!
We’re proud to introduce our first collaborative team— and

Joy Adeola is a Nigerian-Canadian visual artist. Through storytelling, she explores human connections and self-relationships. Her work blends vivid contrast with warmth, revealing overlooked beauty in everyday life. By highlighting subtle moments, she invites viewers to pause, reflect, and appreciate the richness of the world around them.

Chantelle Dorafshani is a Filipino-Persian illustrator and designer based in Mississauga. Her work draws inspiration from music, nature, and her surroundings. With a passion for exploring both digital and traditional mediums, she loves to integrate the two in her work. Early in her artistic career, Chantelle is eager to create thoughtful artwork that will resonate with people of her surrounding communities and beyond.

Join us for an evening of art and entertainment

Visual Arts Mississauga invites you to our annual Now Streaming Opening Reception. Co-curated by VAM’s Creative Residents, Now Streaming showcases artists ages 18-29 years old from the GTHA. The youth-led exhibition supports emerging artists working in experimental processes using a combination of traditional and new media.

Visual Arts Mississauga invites GTHA artists ages 18-29 years old to submit to its annual exhibition Now Streaming. VAM will host artists working in experimental processes using a combination of traditional and new media.

This year’s exhibition will be co-curated by VAM’s Creative Residents (VCR) and exhibiting artists will be juried for First, Second, and Third Place prizes. VAM’s Creative Residency and Now Streaming is generously supported by the Community Foundation of Mississauga.

No entry fee, entrants juried with prizes awarded.

Deadline to Submit: Sunday, January 14 at 11:59 pm

Sierra Peca is a second-generation Maltese/Italian Canadian painter. She graduated from University of Toronto’s Art & Art History program. Sierra has worked as a painting assistant for Tony Scherman and an assistant for Sheridan College’s Painting 1 class. She is the recipient of the UofT Excellence in Painting 3 Award and the Dr. Annie Smith Travel Scholarship.

Treasure Fatile is a Nigerian, Mississauga-based visual artist currently enrolled in the Art & Art History and Criminology programs at the University of Toronto Mississauga. She works mainly with traditional and digital painting mediums, exploring themes of identity, introspection, and the self in relation to environments.
