Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I’m a day or two away from posting my latest painting; curiously the subject matter is Guinness! This iconic harp detail is all I can show at this time. Hope everyone has a great day and a celebratory pint. Sláinte!

Latest Art: “Crushed Schooner” is a 30” x 24” oil painting commissioned by a client of Kultiq/PWD Gallery in Kitchener. Schooner lager, brewed in Nova Scotia for the Eastern Canada market, is their favourite beer. Many thanks to Kultiq/PWD Gallery, who have generated strong sales of my paintings over the past 6 months or so! pwdgallery.com. charlesbruceart.ca.

Latest art: this is my last completed painting of 2025. It’s an 14”H x 11”W oil painting on canvas called “Crushed Widowmaker” featuring a local Squamish brew. I did it for my bro-in-law Paul to contribute to a local charity. I’m currently completing a rare commission for a Kultiq/PWD Gallery art collector, showcasing a crushed can of their favourite East Coast beer. First, I have to complete a fun week on a family beach vacation! charlesbruceart.ca

Latest Art: it took a while, but I completed another large format crushed, street-flattened Diet Coke aluminum can, 40”H x 30”W oil painting. “Crushed Diet Coke No. 4” is my 21st crushed can litter turned into Pop Art! This art is heading to Kitchener’s Kultiq/PWD Art Gallery shortly, where it will be available to view and purchase. pwdgallery.com. charlesbruceart.ca

Latest art: a departure from my usual paintings; this one is a multi-media exercise called “Coffee No. 9” - I attached those Starbucks corrugated coffee sleeves to a 18” x 18” birchwood panel for a wave-like background. Did you know those sleeves are also known as a “zarf” (cup-holding appliance). I love logos and how they evolve as a brand grows over time. I added an illustration board circle to the composition and hand painted in acrylic the original 1971 brown Starbucks “siren” figure, before the modern makeovers that became the iconic green siren of today! The panel’s edges are painted that familiar SB green and I used one of the round white “delivery stickers” to hold my bottom right signature treatment. Love coffee! charlesbruceart.ca

Latest art: another 12” square oil painting for an upcoming online sale - this one I did over the recent Canada Day holiday; I was largely on my own and spent most of that time in my studio. It was fitting that this painting is the most “Canadian” crushed pop can to date! Canada Dry, “the champagne of ginger ales” was founded in Toronto in 1904 by a Canadian Pharmacist and Chemist, eh! One more small 12” square to come before I go big again. charlesbruceart.ca

Latest art: “Street Cap No. 4” - discarded and beat-up bottle cap that doubles as a cool art subject. Corona beer caps are the most often found street-littered bottle cap! This is the first of several 12” x 12” paintings I’m doing for an upcoming “Square Foot” online art sale.
Limes and Coronas go perfectly together, so I colour-matched the painting’s background accordingly. I also attached the actual bottle cap to the painting’s bottom left corner. More to come! charlesbruceart.ca

News: I’m honoured to have two paintings accepted into the juried exhibition at Oakville’s Summer and Grace Gallery called “The Power of She: A Collective Vision of Femininity” from May 1 - June 1.
I was initially reluctant to apply, thinking that my work feels a bit masculine, but I actually created my “Love” painting series with women in mind.
Typewriter Love and Wine Love paintings are on display at the gallery and available for purchase; interestingly, my other two “Love” paintings both sold at this very gallery! Love it! Next week: set-up and start of The Artist Project Toronto May 8-11. charlesbruceart.ca summergracegallery.com

No new art until later in May. I’m currently preparing for the upcoming Artist Project in Toronto from May 8-11, where I will be presenting a large body of my art, largely from the past three years.
Meantime, I’m honoured to have one of my oil paintings accepted into Toronto’s John B. Aird Galley’s “Portraits 2025” annual online juried show featuring a slideshow and downloadable PDF publication.
My contribution to this year’s collection is 2023’s 14” x 11” oil painting on canvas board called “Cookie Monster” - my first portrait attempt since painting full-time. The subject is my beautiful grandson Declan when he was a toddler, devouring cookies in his backyard! I paint what I love! www.airdgallery.org www.charlesbruceart.ca
