A Difficult Announcement
This is a post I never wanted to have to write, but unfortunately, I have made the difficult decision that there will be no Miramichi Horror Fest this year.
Vendors were contacted by email yesterday, but I wanted to share the news publicly and personally with everyone who has supported this event.
Miramichi Horror Fest has always been my favorite event to organize. I put an enormous amount of heart, time, and energy into making it something special for our community. Unfortunately, this year has been incredibly difficult from the very beginning.
As many of you know, my events are essentially a one-woman operation. I have tried very hard to make Horror Fest happen, but despite those efforts, I wasn't able to secure the sponsorships or funding necessary to make the event possible. Vendor applications were also much lower than expected, and every celebrity guest I had lined up ultimately had to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts or other opportunities.
Normally, I would find a way to push through all of that. But the truth is, this year has been different.
The loss of my father broke something in me that I haven't yet been able to put back together. I have been trying to keep moving forward, but it has taken away a lot of my focus, my energy, and my drive. More than anything, it feels like a spark that used to be there has simply gone out.
And sometimes, you have to be honest with yourself and recognize when you just don't have it in you to keep pushing.
So, for the first time, I'm choosing to step back rather than put on an event that isn't up to the standard I expect for Horror Fest — and that you, our attendees, vendors, volunteers, and supporters, deserve.
There is, however, a little bit of good news.
The celebrity guests who had planned to join us this year have graciously agreed to come to Miracon 2027, which gives me something to look forward to and work toward. And I will also be bringing back the smaller, more intimate Nerdy Little Christmas on November 28th.
For now, I simply need some time to breathe, grieve, and figure out what the next chapter looks like.
I hope you can understand this decision and, more importantly, have a little patience with me as I work through everything and find my way forward.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Miramichi Horror Fest over the years, whether you attended, volunteered, sponsored, vended, shared a post, or simply believed in what I was trying to build. This isnt the end, it will return next year.
It means more to me than I can put into words.
Thank you. ❤️
