The Client
Momentus Technologies, offering cloud-based event planning software used by large venues and event planners around the world

The Ask
For their Illuminate conference, held annually and across multiple continents, Momentus came to us to commission a custom conference giveaway. They wanted this custom set to incorporate their logo, be fun, quirky, and have some sort of movement; something dynamic.

How We Did It
We spent some time considering the Momentus’ starburst logo and how they might use it to create movement. Soon, we had created the concept: a brick-built starburst to match the Momentus logo, built on a platform that would allow the builder to spin the starburst as one would a fidget spinner.

The Result
With this custom Momentus spinner set, Momentus has a fun, quirky giveaway for their conference attendees with plenty of movement. This custom set is fully branded for Momentus, and is one that builders can display on their desks as a reminder of the conference and the brand behind it.

Sometimes our projects scratch a very personal itch instead of a corporate one. That was the case with our recreation of the majestic Iolani Palace.

A client, deeply connected to her Native Hawaiian roots, shared her sentiments: "For me, this isn't just any build. It's a reflection of where I come from as a Native Hawaiian. It embodies the pride of our past and the hope for our future."

At Playwell Bricks, architectural models inspired by significant landmarks like Honolulu's Iolani Palace are among our most cherished projects. These builds are not only a testament to our creativity in capturing signature architectural details but also an opportunity to immerse ourselves in the rich tapestry of history that each structure represents.

The day-to-day at Playwell Bricks is honestly a mix of creativity, problem solving, and grown adults getting very excited about tiny plastic bricks.

One minute we’re brainstorming concepts with clients. The next we’re debating the perfect piece for a build, packing sets, testing ideas, hopping on calls, fixing last-minute details, or celebrating a design finally coming together exactly the way we pictured it.

We get to work with creative people, build fun things, solve interesting problems, and make experiences people genuinely remember.

Not a bad way to spend the day, honestly.

Mini can still be mighty!

One of our mini sets (less than 50 pieces) was designed for Tuscaloosa Academy, a private school for students in kindergarten through grade 12 in the state of Alabama, U.S.A.

Tuscaloosa Academy explained that they were hoping to commission a small, custom brick set of their new athletic center. Something that would make the students feel a connection to the new building, as well as more comfortable with the construction activities on campus.

The crew at Tuscaloosa Academy shared the content that they wanted to be embedded in the set’s Build Instructions, which revealed the true meaning of the gift they were giving their students: “As you snap each brick together, imagine the real building being built on our campus. Every brick you place is just like the real work happening at TA. It is one piece at a time, all working together to build something awesome.”

The Client
TAPP, Inc., powering communities and networks with steel power poles

The Ask
With a busy trade-show calendar, they wanted to create a fresh, fun giveaway that stands out and starts meaningful conversations with potential clients.

How We Did It
Playwell Bricks CEO Jason Pyett designed this custom set based on TAPP’s Single Circuit Delta Configuration Pole. After changing the colour of the brick insulators, he turned this set over to Playwell’s graphics team. They created a decal to display the TAPP, Inc.’s logo and name on this set, and then the production crew gathered the sets, and the build instructions were created.

The Result
This custom Single Circuit Delta Configuration Pole set offers TAPP, Inc. an interactive tradeshow gift with huge appeal to engineers in their industry. Once built, these industry insiders will be sure to display it in their workspaces, keeping TAPP, Inc. at the top of their minds the next time they need to place an order.

One of our favourite parts of what we do is seeing how excited people get throughout the process.

From the brainstorms to the ideas. The tiny details coming together. The “wait… we can actually do that?” moments.

We love making cool custom sets, obviously.

But we also love making the experience feel easy, collaborative, creative, and genuinely fun from start to finish.

Build something people enjoy receiving. And build an experience people enjoy being part of.

The Google Doodle is as big a digital staple as they come. Introduced in 1998, it quickly became a beloved feature of the search engine giant.

So imagine our reaction when their partner, Stink Studios, asked us to create a representation of one of their famous Doodles. The Stink Studios team selected the 2013 Doodle of Grace Hopper on what would have been her 107th birthday.

Grace Hopper was a computer programming pioneer. She held a Ph.D. in Mathematics and Mathematical Physics, was a Navy Reservist, and a Professor. Over the course of her impressive career, she devised the theory that led to the development of the first programming language. Grace Hopper also wrote the first ever computer manual.

We are still so incredibly proud of this one!

U.S. Venture, Inc, a trusted leader in energy, transportation, and sustainability solutions for 75 years.

The Ask
Approaching their 75th anniversary, leadership wanted to mark the milestone with a unique shareholder gift that represented their brand story; something that represented where the company came from as they looked to the future.

How We Did It
The custom Playwell Bricks that U.S. Venture, Inc. envisioned came from a bygone era: a vintage service station sign, imagined in bricks, with the company’s modern branding and name. In addition to the design itself, U.S. Ventures included an inspiring note in the build instructions for their shareholders to see as they began building. This note offered U.S. Ventures’ leadership the opportunity to embed their mission, values, and brand into the experience of this milestone Playwell Bricks set.

The Result
This custom Playwell Bricks set honours where U.S. Venture, Inc. began and where it’s headed next. The built-in brand messaging guides the experience, forging deeper ties with shareholders and creating a positive, lasting impression.
