Our feature artist of the day is Grace Gardner with her piece Progression.
"As my time at Camosun College has come to a close, I have been thinking about the different seasons of my educational career and my life. This is where my relationship with visual art began, and where I found passion and purpose. Through self-doubt, set-backs, and time, I am slowly becoming more confident in my path and the decisions I am making. The carved layers of this abstracted form, along with the exposed rings of the tree, reinforce themes of time, persistence, and progression."
Congratulations on the sale of this piece Grace!

Our feature artist of the day is Margo Farr with her piece "Under the Sea".
In my recent fascination with corals and undersea creatures, I've learned that coral reef ecosystems face threats including ocean warming, ocean acidification and pollution. I began making art in response to these threats. The first pieces in this series were loosely realistic and each subsequent piece became more fantastical, invented and abstracted.

Our feature artist of the day is Alan Briks with his piece "6th Chord"
"Through the distraction of my abstraction, a symbolic process inevitably ensues. I like using untreated canvas or linen as a ground. I appreciate its versatility and find it helps create depth and luminosity. This painting set out without intention, in a sensorial way and developed from there. Joy to the gestural and spatial relationships! Transitional space, forming and re-forming. There is an ongoing dialogue with the evolving image concerning structural aesthetics and possible meanings. The outcome is sometimes lyrical, atmospheric, and whimsical and may pe*****te resonating inner depths, or unspoken quiet truths."

Our feature artist of the day is Kimberley Zutz with her piece "Tall Trees".
Pathways and walking down or through them is an amazing way for me to release stress and rejuvenate my mind. Most recently while my family was out from Alberta visiting, I had the joy of sharing my immediate path and the tall trees with my prairie folks. Fun - the fresh air, and the laughter in this beautiful park right outside my front door. Gratitude and joy - thank you to the tall trees for providing a natural majesty to my family, and all who appreciate you.

A reflection on Contentment:
Feeding on distraction, thirsting for more.
Climbing the ladder, striving to soar.
Aren't we enough - cool, gentle and kind?
Let go, stop holding, solace we find.

Our feature artist of the day is Marylou Wakefield with her piece "We got our lines crossed".
This is the second of three in a series of works that considers the impact of perspective on how we see the world. At times, our point of view may distort "reality", or we may see a connection that isn't obvious to others. At other times, we may become aware of how one complex ecosystem in nature mimics a complex system in the built environment. Anais Nin said, “We don’t see things as they are, we see things as we are”. This work invites us to consider the idea of how our perspective shapes what we see and what it says about us.

It asks “why?”
What questions would we ask if we were all the same"
