Excited to spend the day Art Room on 2nd Gallery and Downtown Medicine Hat! with AIM, Art In Motion happening Esplanade Arts & Heritage and on 1st street Ursula Maser | Artist 🇨🇦 and I are prepped for the day ! We have demos happening at the Esplanade and the Gallery and Art Room on 2nd Gallery is looking fantastic! Jackie Deblasio will be doing an interactive painting, Ursula Maser Acrylic and Kathy Mann soft pastels.

How do you start a piece of copper?! Well it all begins with inspiration, I am so inspired by the great outdoors, anything from a ditch full of weeds, to a field ready to be combined, to the most beautiful flower garden or a forest full of trees inspires me. I also like to work in collections, one subject matter will get drawn out over and over and over. I love this part, no commitment just freely creating. 🧡

Commissions hold a special place in my heart, none more than this memorial hat created for Marilyn Earl Weatherhead and family. A vintage Wrangler, this process started with a quality hat that had seen better days, thank you to Smithbilt Hats for taking care of it like one of their own, and restoring it to its original splendour. If this hat could talk it would tell stories, and we would laugh and cry and celebrate Earl, the man who wore it all over again.
Thank you Marilyn for the opportunity to create this piece for you, I am touched.
Also for the photo Jeff Weatherhead, a beautiful example of how a Copper adorned Western Hat can be sculptural work of art in a home or office. “Sometimes the nicest thing to do with a hat, is just look at it”

Copper Rubbings, these are so simpily beautiful and extension of my Copper practice. Though I have created them for many years, there are literally stacks of them in the studio! A fine paper is placed overtop of one of my copper pieces and rubbed with a wax based pencil. This show “Adorn the Day” Art Room on 2nd Gallery was the first time I properly framed them and showed them. I was so pleased with the results! A few remain from the show, they can be seen at Art Room in Medicine Hat and on my website www.erinstelmaschuk.com
oh and the frames are gorgeous too! solid wood, rounded corners, swoon 😍
