The first President was the late, Henry Allergoth. Under the auspices of a group of interested citizens, the first production was staged in 1961. The show was “Oklahoma!” directed by Richard Mells, and was a rousing success. Since that time, countless local drama enthusiasts have given freely of their time and talents to make musical theatre one of Medicine Hat’s most durable and successful community endeavors.

When the events of September 11, 2001 changed the world, 38 planes carrying nearly 7,000 passengers were diverted to Gander, Newfoundland.

For several days, the people of Gander opened their homes, schools and hearts to thousands of unexpected guests from around the world.

AGM NOTICE 🎭 The Medicine Hat Musical Theatre will hold its ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING Friday, September 11, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at 1221-10 Avenue SW, Medicine Hat, Alberta _____________________________________
RESOLVED that the By-Laws of The Medicine Hat Musical Theatre be amended by adding the following provisions:
2(c) Special Vote By Email
(i) A special vote by e-mail may be called for by any director proposing a resolution.
(ii) The president shall have the right to deny the special vote and place the resolution before the board at the next scheduled board meeting.
2(d) Remote Attendance at Meetings
(i) Directors may attend meetings remotely via any electronic connection allowing for an exchange of communications provided the remote attendance is approved by the board.
3(f) In the event that a director is attending remotely, and a ballot vote is requested, that director may forward his vote directly to the chair of the meeting by e-mail, text or other confidential means and the chair of the meeting shall complete the ballot on behalf of the director attending remotely.
The purpose of the amendments are to allow for special votes by email on issues arising between board meeting, and to allow for remote attendance at board meetings by members who are not physically present at a board meeting..

Two hilarious one-act plays. One festive night of theatre! Each performance will feature both shows, with an intermission between them.

AUDITION DATES
📅 Thursday, September 10 | 6:30–9:30 PM
📅 Sunday, September 13 | 6:30–9:30 PM
⭐ Callbacks: Thursday, September 17 | 6:30–9:30 PM
Auditions will be held in individual 10-minute slots. Memorization is not required, but please be familiar with the scenes. A reader will be available to run the scene with you. You may be asked to read for multiple characters and/or for both plays.

Our final production of the 2026–2027 season is one of the world's most powerful and enduring stories of hope, courage, and resilience of the human spirit.

For generations, The Diary of Anne Frank has touched the hearts of audiences around the world, reminding us of the importance of compassion, understanding, and never losing hope—even in the darkest of times.

During the N**i occupation of the Netherlands in 1942, Anne Frank began to keep a diary while in hiding with her parents, sister, and 4 other people. Hiding in the sealed-off upper rooms of the annex of her father's office building in Amsterdam, Anne and the others cope with the day-to-day struggles of life in cramped quarters, as the spectre of tragedy looms, ever-present, over their every move.

✨ This timeless story continues to inspire audiences of all ages and is a moving conclusion to an unforgettable lineup of shows.

😂 AVENUE Q is Back On The Block!

Our third production of the 2026–2027 season welcomes back a beloved MHMT favourite! Returning to our stage for the first time since 2013, Avenue Q is a hilariously clever musical that's equal parts outrageous, heartfelt, and unforgettable.

Winner of the Tony Award® for Best Musical, Avenue Q is packed with laugh-out-loud comedy, memorable songs, and characters you'll fall in love with. It's a unique theatre experience that proves growing up isn't always as easy as we imagined!

The laugh-out-loud musical tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named Princeton, who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. He soon discovers that, although the residents seem nice, it's clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood. Together, Princeton and his new-found friends struggle to find jobs, dates and their ever-elusive purpose in life.
