The first President was the late, Henry Allergoth. Under the auspices of a group of interested citizens, the first production was staged in 1961. The show was “Oklahoma!” directed by Richard Mells, and was a rousing success. Since that time, countless local drama enthusiasts have given freely of their time and talents to make musical theatre one of Medicine Hat’s most durable and successful community endeavors.

🎭 Tonight is our final performance of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.

This production began with both excitement and heartbreak. The show was originally meant to be directed by Tyler Johnson, a talented young member of our theatre family whose loss was deeply felt by everyone at Medicine Hat Musical Theatre.

When Lyn Weisgerber stepped in to direct this production, it came from a place of love—for this theatre, for this cast and crew, and for Tyler. Throughout this entire journey, Lyn has carried the responsibility of honouring his memory while helping guide this incredible company to the stage.

She could not be more proud of what this cast, crew, musicians, volunteers, and creative team have accomplished together. The heart, dedication, laughter, music, and emotion poured into this production have made it something truly special.

As the curtain falls for the final time tonight, we hope we have not only told this beautiful story well, but also paid tribute to someone who meant so much to our theatre community. 💛

Thank you to everyone who supported this production and helped make this journey unforgettable.

🎭 SOLD OUT FINAL WEEKEND! 🎭

As we head into our final performances of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, we want to shine a spotlight on someone who plays one of the most important roles behind the scenes—our Stage Manager, Derek Martin.

While the audience sees the magic on stage, Derek is the one behind the curtain making sure every cue, every entrance, every lighting change, set move, and backstage moment happens exactly when it should. He is the calm voice on headset, the organizer, the problem solver, and the person helping keep the entire show running smoothly night after night.

Stage management is one of the hardest and most important jobs in theatre, and Derek handles it all with professionalism, dedication, and an incredible amount of care for this cast and crew.

We truly couldn’t do this show without him. 💛
