Now that the dust has settled (literally) on year sixteen for Quonset Days, I would like to extend my utmost gratitude to the many people that make it all work.
To my friends and neighbours, you put aside your livelihood; set down your tools, and donate your time, strength and compassion to build this event to the spectacle that the community gets to see on the third weekend of every July. Many of you are part of committees and go the extra mile to make sure all aspects of the weekend work harmoniously. Others setup the entire event in a frenzy of activity that comes together so quickly and all of this while facilitating my obsessive-compulsive tendencies and sometime curt tone.
To our social media and photography team, you have created such an extensive archive of truly remarkable images and then present them year after year to capture the attention of the public in an artform that is second to none. The hours that go into curating social media pages to the point of being so informative, so mesmerizing, and so encompassing of all the work that goes into the weekend, demands its own applause.
To the countless businesses, organizations and sponsors, you continue to go above and beyond by donating your hard-earned money, time and auction items. Whether it’s serving up the best pancakes in Cypress County Saturday morning, delivering the most unique items for auction, or just buying tickets for the office to come and enjoy the weekend, we appreciate you ALL very much.
To the community of patrons that come back year after year, your support and enthusiasm for the event is what keeps it going. Quonset Days is a vessel to encourage charitable acts and every auction bid, beer sale or gate pass sold, all helps our crusade to end amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. As long as you keep coming, we will continue to put on a show for you.
And above all, to my family. Many of you travel great distances year after year and really make the event come together. Literally hundreds of donations, are not only accounted for, but presented in the auction tent in an easy to engage format. The bands are taken care of with the greatest of hospitality. The grounds are kept clean and organized. And all the other bells and whistles both behind the scenes and on display for the public that make the weekend come together are all because of you!
Thank you to everyone on making the 16th Annual Quonset Days an overwhelming success. We look forward to sharing our total with you as well as plans for the future!
