After being closed for the summer while we worked on renovations, we finally reopened our doors and what a way to come back!

As proud as we are of our own reopening and the success of the day, we really wanted to take a moment to shine the spotlight on something we were honoured to be a small part of: the Root Cellar Food and Wellness Hub’s 5th Annual Amazing Race for Hunger.

$176,069 was raised yesterday! 🤯

And over the past five years, this incredible event has now raised more than half a million dollars to help put food on the table for people in our community who need it most.

We were so happy and proud to be one of the stops along the race route, but even more proud of the Root Cellar team and everything they have accomplished with this event.

Behind a number like $176,069 are countless hours of planning, organizing and an incredible team of volunteers who give their time to make the race happen. As a volunteer-run operation, we know just how much work goes into pulling off an event.. but one of this scale.. WOW! We have so much appreciation for everyone who helped make yesterday such a success.

A huge congratulations to the entire Root Cellar team. Your dedication, hard work and commitment to our community truly showed yesterday.

The Monarch may have been one small stop along the way, but we were incredibly proud to be part of such a meaningful day.

Monarch Spotlight: Jim 🎟

If you’ve been to the Monarch for a movie or live event, chances are you’ve crossed paths with Jim.

You’ll often find him at the front doors counting guests, helping direct the flow to concessions or once the show is over.. broom in hand making sure the lobby and aisles are spotless for the next event. Jim takes tremendous pride in the Monarch and works hard to ensure every guest has a great experience.

After a full career at Goodyear, many people would look forward to slowing down. Jim chose a different path.. since retiring, he’s now dedicating countless hours to volunteering at the Monarch.

As a valued member of our volunteer and contractor team, Jim is always ready to jump into the next task. Whether he’s tackling repairs, lending a hand to fellow volunteers, or taking on whatever challenge comes next, he’s become someone we know we can count on.

Jim’s dedication is a reminder that retirement isn’t always about stepping back, sometimes it’s about stepping up for your community.

Make sure to check it out this weekend! The car show runs Saturday, August 22 from 10 AM–4 PM, and the Monarch will be open starting at 10 AM if you want to get your popcorn fix. 🍿

We’ll also be showing:
