We had a few trees leftover from Hear The Trees and a few teachers from Viscount School did an activity with their students. The students shared their tree stories, created beautiful art work and bond it in a lovely keepsake for us. Here is a quick look at the book a couple of stories.

🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Today, Dancing Sky Theatre pauses to listen, to remember, and to reflect.

Our theatre stands, creates, gathers, and tells stories on Treaty 6 territory — a living treaty relationship that continues to shape the land and the people who call this place home.

We acknowledge the Nêhiyawak (Plains Cree), Nêhithawak (Woodland Cree), Nêhiyaw (Swampy Cree), Nahkawé (Saulteaux), Nakota, Dakota, Lakota, and Denesuline (Dene) peoples, and the Métis whose histories, cultures, languages, families, and communities are woven into the story of this land. (Saskatchewan)

At Dancing Sky Theatre, we believe stories matter. The stories we tell are shaped by the land on which we live and work — but today is not about our stories.

Today, we make space for their stories.

For the children who were taken from their families.
For the children who never came home.
For Survivors who carry those memories.
For families and communities whose lives continue to be affected by the legacy of residential schools.
And for Indigenous children today, whose futures deserve to be filled with language, culture, family, belonging, and hope.

We remember the children.
We honour the Survivors.
We listen to the stories.
And we recognize that reconciliation is an ongoing responsibility — one that asks all of us to learn, to reflect, and to act.

Today, we listen.

🧡 Every Child Matters.
