Our annual Program Assistant Training is happening at the Martensville Recreation Centre on October 1st from 6:00-7:00 PM.

The PA role is open to skaters age 12+ or who have passed STAR 1 Freeskate.

PA Training is mandatory for all STARSkaters who wish to assist with our CanSkate program.

The session will include a combination of written exercises and hands-on activities to prepare you for your role on the ice. Workbooks and pens will be provided—just bring yourself and be ready to learn! ⛸

Mark your calendars! All skaters & parents in the PreSTAR, STARSkate and STAR Synchro programs are invited to an Information Session on October 1st.

During the session, we’ll explain the schedule, introduce the new off-ice component being offered this season and provide important information about our synchro teams. We’ll also review what to expect throughout the season and answer any questions you may have.

We look forward to seeing everyone and kicking off a great season together!

🥅 Great hockey starts with great skating!

Our CanHockey program helps U7 (202-2021) & U9 (2018-2019) players develop the fundamental skating skills that make a difference during game play:

🏒 Balance → stay strong on your skates
🏒 Acceleration → get to the puck faster
🏒 Turns & stops → react quickly to the play
🏒 Backward skating → move confidently in every direction
🏒 Agility → change direction with control
🏒 Edge control → skate more efficiently

Players are encouraged to wear full hockey gear and bring their stick so they can learn in the equipment they'll use all season.

Our CanSkate program offers the flexibility to skate once or twice a week, making it easy to find an option that works for your family:

▶️PreCan (ages 3 & 4) - Tues & Thurs 6:30-7:00pm
▶️CanSkate (ages 5+) - Tues & Thurs 6:15-7:00pm
▶️CanHockey (U7 & U9) - Thurs 6:15-7:00pm

📍 All sessions take place at the Martensville Recreation Centre

At Skate Martensville, our Learn to Skate programs help young skaters build confidence while developing the essential skills they need to succeed on the ice.

Skaters will work on:

⭐ Balance – forward skating, glides, and edges
⭐ Control – stops and backwards skating
⭐ Agility – turns, speed, and movement

Whether your child is stepping on the ice for the first time or building skills for hockey or figure skating, our programs provide a fun and supportive environment to learn and grow.
