The Canadian Chinese Orchestra and the Chinese music community is deeply saddened by the passing of Kai Bill Ko, founder and leader of Millennium Chinese Music Workshop (千禧雅樂坊).
Bill devoted his life to the growth of the Chinese music community in Canada through his countless arrangements for Chinese ensembles, his passion for Chinese music education, and his unwavering support for musicians of all generations. His dedication and generosity touched so many lives and helped shape the Chinese orchestral landscape in our community today.
Over the years, the Canadian Chinese Orchestra had the privilege of collaborating with Millennium Chinese Music Workshop on many occasions. Through these partnerships, we witnessed Bill’s artistry, kindness, leadership, and sincere love for Chinese music.
His contributions to the community will never be forgotten, and his musical legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, students, colleagues, and all who were touched by his music and spirit.
He will be forever remembered.
