The Bergthorson Academy of Musical Arts offers music instruction for a variety of instruments, voice and Preschool, as well as instrument rentals and repairs at both our locations in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. Our instructors are chosen not only for their extensive musical skills, music education and teaching experience but also for their commitment to excellence and their patient kindness. All

programs are tailored to the students' needs, for all styles and ages. When not constrained by Covid Protocols we encourage all of our students, children and adults, to participate in our 2 annual recitals as well as the many community events that request our student and instructor performers. Making his return to the live music scene, Bo Henrik, rising Swedish-born Vancouver-based artist and producer is launching his highly anticipated debut album ‘I’ll Deal With It When I’m Sober’ on April 17th at Fortune Sound Club. This will be an artistic experience merging Alternative R&B, Jazz, and Hip Hop, featuring some of the country’s most talented instrumentalists, and with support from local favourites TK The Artist, Adewolf, and Kid Filthy.

Meet Alanna! 💫

Alanna Finn-Morris has been a professional recording artist since she graduated high school and immediately joined the artist roster of 604 Records. She has spent ten years working on her band ‘Fionn’ alongside her twin sister Brianne, and has released three full length albums. She has had the opportunity to co-write with Grammy nominee Josh Ramsay (Marianas Trench) as well as Juno winning producer Kevvy Maher (Fake Shark). In November of 2025 her band ‘Fionn’ achieved radio success when their song ‘Blow’ hit number one on Billboard Canada’s rock charts. Fionn have had three songs make it onto Billboard Canada’s top 40, and have spent the past three years touring across Canada as well as the West Coast of the United States.

Alanna is passionate about the songwriting process and has worked to perfect her craft since she was twelve years old. She spent her teen years flying to Nashville to take songwriting lessons with the Nashville Songwriter’s Association, and has recently has written a beginner’s songwriting course that will be able to assist any budding songwriter at the beginning of their journey.

Introducing "12 Things Every Songwriter Should Know"! A Songwriter workshop taught by Bruce Coughlan on April 29th at 7pm at our Pitt Meadows location!

Bruce Coughlan is a career performer. A songwriter, recording artist, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, compere, and storyteller par excellence with five decades of experience. Bruce’s songs are a reflection of the many roads he’s travelled over the decades since he first slung a guitar over his shoulder to tackle life a balladeer. He's written hundreds of songs and performed at thousands of venues, ranging from folk clubs to concert halls and festivals (including a Canada Day performance on Parliament Hill!)

Since recording his first LP in 1984, He’s recorded 14 albums of original and adapted traditional music across a broad range of the Roots Music genre. His songs have been recorded in turn by some of the most legendary names in Acoustic Music. Bruce might be best recognised for his work with Tiller’s Folly, and his historically based ballads, written on Pacific Canadian themes.
Bruce Coughlan has been welcomed internationally as a touring artist. His eclectic mix of original Roots-based songs are honest, timeless & authentic. His storytelling is intriguing, matched by his expressive voice and masterful guitar work.
