Just a suggestion 🫣 you might really like it!

I have two more open studio courses this summer and they’re both four weeks long, and we meet every Thursday night from 6pm to 9pm.

It’s $200, and that gives you access to: your own shelf space, clay, underglaze, glaze, a large slab roller. We will do one group bisque firing, and one group glaze firing for the class.

The idea is that you can come and make whatever you’d like - is it a cool idea you saw online? A set of dishes for yourself? Do you just want to play around and see where the clay takes you? It’s up to you! It’s your time!

I’ll be there to help you with any questions you may have, help you troubleshoot how to make something, show you how to use the equipment, etc.

Act fast - our July Open Studio begins on Thursday July 9th! There’s also one in August if you’re not quite ready yet.

What do you want to make this summer? Here’s what you can make in one afternoon!

When I opened the studio, I wanted to be able to offer something that’s approachable, low commitment, and more affordable than a 6 to 8 week course. I know not everyone has the time or money for that, and those people deserve to be able to try ceramics too!

That’s where the single-season workshops come in. It’s an easy way to try hand-building with clay. You don’t need any experience, or to commit to multiple sessions. You don’t even need to have an idea of what you what to make.

These projects are designed with beginners in mind, and are able to be finished (including decoration!) in a single three hour session. It’s all broken down step-by-step, and there’s always opportunities within the project to make it uniquely yours. You choose the shapes you want, and the decoration. No two projects end up looking the same!

Everything is decorated using our underglazes, which are applied with brushes just like paint.

After the class, we take care of the firings, and give everything a coat of clear glaze to make it food-safe and durable. Your project is then ready to pick up 4 weeks after the class.

⭐️ To all the perfectionists out there ⭐️

It’s ok if you don’t smooth every bump or fingerprint. It’s ok if the lines aren’t perfectly straight, or the edges are wonky.

The most important thing if that you took the time and energy to make something with your hands! That you tried something new and different, and that you have fun.

When you get your project back after it’s been fired and glazed you won’t remember all the little imperfections. You’ll look at it with fresh eyes and say “wow, I made that!”

🌟 It’s ok if it looks handmade - it IS handmade! 🌟

🎨 This project in particular is perfect for all ages: whether you’re a creative kiddo, or an adult looking to try something new. This class is great beginners and experienced makers alike!

🌞 This is a single-session workshop, 3 hours long. You’ll receive guided instruction on how to make and decorate your dish. We’ll take care of the glazing and kiln firing, and your piece will be ready to pick up in four weeks time!

🙋🏻‍♀️ What’s a trinket dish you say? It’s a shallow dish that can be used to hold whatever you want!

🧀 It could be a segmented snack plate, a jewelry dish, a spot for spare change, or a resting place for your special sea shells.

Using slab rolling techniques, you’ll learn how to cut out whatever shape you like, attach walls for containing, and decorate with our underglaze paints.

What will you use yours for?

This is a great project for new and experienced potters alike, and there’s so many ways to make it your own! You could add extra dividers, paint it with your favourite colours, and make it whatever shape you like.
