Introducing our SEPTEMBER 2026 Event Calendar! 🎬🔥
From psychological horror to comedy classics, Hyland Cinema is taking you back to school this September to study some of the greatest filmmakers of all time!
We begin this month by featuring the legendary anime series by Hideaki Anno NEON GENESIS EVANGELION on the big screen, through presenting for the first time in North America EVANGELION: DEATH(TRUE)² & REBIRTH and the masterpiece cinematic conclusion of the series THE END OF EVANGELION. See both films back-to-back on September 5th as part of our series Animation at the Hyland! 🤖✝️
If you’d prefer some fava beans and a nice chianti, then join us for our Hannibal Lecter-themed selections of Jonathan Demme’s THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS as our September Retromania and Michael Mann’s MANHUNTER (THE FINAL CUT). From the mind of Thomas Harris, THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS will be presented on stunning 35MM FILM in celebration of the film’s 35th anniversary, whereas MANHUNTER will be presented in its stunning new 4K Restoration in honour of the film’s 40th Anniversary, sponsored by Film London. (*DATE SWAP FOR MANHUNTER! Manhunter will no longer be screening Sept 25 as a double feature. See MANHUNTER on its own Sept 26th and Oct 1st!) 🐑🐉
These aren’t our only novel adaptation classics this month — Our collaboration with The Forest City Film Festival returns with two 35MM FILM screenings of William Friedkin’s Best Picture-winning neo-noir THE FRENCH CONNECTION in honour of the film’s 55th anniversary, along with our Horror at the Hyland selection being the film that launched Mia Farrow to international stardom, the terrifying ROSEMARY’S BABY. We also feature Rob Reiner’s adaptation of Stephen King’s coming-of-age drama STAND BY ME (celebrating its 40th anniversary), along with Wes Anderson’s autumnal stop-motion gem based on the Roald Dahl story, FANTASTIC MR FOX. 🦊🍂
We also celebrate the anniversaries of two iconic comedies this month, with two 25th anniversary screenings of LEGALLY BLONDE and multiple screenings of the John Hughes teen classic FERRIS BUELLER’S DAY OFF, turning 40 this year! 😎🐕
Finally, as part of the Forest City Irish Fest, we will be playing the Irish musical romantic drama ONCE, in loving memory of musician Glen Hansard. 🇮🇪💚
