The Lambeth Art Association is a group of 130 artists working in various mediums. We hold our annual art show and sale on the first weekend in May.

WELCOME WAG: Jennifer Wakefield has recently joined the Lambeth Art Association. Her primary medium is oils, but she also uses acrylics and watercolours. Recently, she has been exploring the printing process through linocuts, etchings and screen prints. Wakefield joined LAA after hearing plein air paint-out friends who were already LAA members talk about how much they enjoyed the meetings and workshops. Wakefield’s hope is to gain artistic inspiration and to make new friends though participation in the LAA. Shown is Jennifer Wakefield’s “At the Fair”, oil on canvas, 12 by 12 inches. WELCOME WAG: Kathy Geris has recently joined the Lambeth Art Association. She works in pencil, ink, and watercolour. She captures whatever moves or inspires her and is fascinated by the play of light and shadow. While her special focus is rendering old buildings and still life, she is venturing more into flowers and landscapes. As an LAA member, she embraces the opportunity to meet other artists, gain community, and volunteer. She’s attended many LAA shows and looks forward to participating in them in the future. Shown is Kathy Geris’ “Look Back to the Future”, watercolour and ink, 11 by 14 inches (framed to 17.5 by 21 inches).

WELCOME WAG: Mary DeKay has recently joined the Lambeth Art Association. She is retired from teaching and now has time to pursue her interest in painting. Her primary medium is watercolor but she is also an amateur potter. She enjoys painting a variety of subjects, especially those to which she feels personally connected. She learned about the LAA through member Hilda Markson Grey under whom she has studied for the past three years. Through membership, DeKay hopes to be inspired by her fellow artists and learn new skills. Shown is Mary DeKay’s 7.5-by-11-inch watercolour “Breathe”. WELCOME WAG: Jane Coates has recently joined the Lambeth Art Association. While her primary medium is acrylic, she also enjoys working in watercolour and in pen and wash. Her preferred subject is the landscape. Being creative is her way to relax – it helps her to slow down and pay attention to details. Coates has been drawing or painting since she was a child. She is a veteran of the Canadian Military and during long deployments painting or drawing kept her occupied. This carried over to later travel as an Auditor with General Dynamics. Now that she is fully retired, she can spend more time learning and improving. She discovered the LAA through friends that she met through various art classes in London. Through membership. she hopes to gain additional knowledge and build relationships within the local art community. Shown is Jane Coates' acrylic piece “River Rocks”, 14 by 18 inches.

WELCOME WAG: Karen Clemens has recently joined the Lambeth Art Association. She specializes in acrylics and mixed media, and her subjects include animals, buildings, landscapes as well as abstracts. She has always found art to be relaxing and rewarding and enjoys meeting and learning from other artists. Shown is Karen Clemens’ 12-by-16-inch, acrylic painting “Inn on the Harbour”.

WELCOME WAG: Fiona Bushby has recently joined the Lambeth Art Association. Her primary medium is oils, and she describes herself as “rather obsessed with water”. She’s been a swimmer all her life and finds it cathartic to be in, on, or watching, water. Bushby loves the challenge of painting and being able to infuse her own perspective into her creations. Since retiring from her career as an interior designer, she relishes having time to devote to other creative pursuits. Bushby discovered the Lambeth Art Association though a fellow painter who goes to the same weekly Spectrum painting class that she’s attended for the past 10 years. She looks forward to LAA meetings and getting to know other members. Shown is “Whirlpools,” a 31.5-by-23.5-inch oil painting of Fiona Bushby’s family bunkie; it is done from the perspective of her morning swim.

WELCOME WAG: Martha Burke has recently joined the Lambeth Art Association. She does mosaic work - primarily in stained glass but uses other tesserae as well. Her focus is nature; she is fascinated by the interplay of colour and light. Both her mother and her sister have been members of the LAA and she is delighted to finally join. Through membership, she hopes to gain knowledge and community. Shown is Martha Burke’s 12-by-12-inch stained glass mosaic “Spring in Springbank”.
