It’s like a human, but also like a mink HUMANMINK is the visual art practice of Canadian artist Trevor Amaral, based in London, Ontario.

Working primarily in acrylic, acrylic markers, and mixed media, his work explores emotional states, symbolism, and the tension between fear, resilience, and transformation. Moving between quiet introspection and energetic, expressive compositions, Amaral creates works that blend bold graphic language with deeply personal narratives. His practice is rooted in the belief that growth rarely follows a

straight path. Reflecting on his journey, he writes about the romance of wandering without a map, the challenges of uncertainty, and the lessons learned from difficult times. He emphasizes the value of sitting with uncertainty, sharpening taste, recognizing the difference between oneself and others' descriptions, and understanding that meaningful growth often happens off the main road. Through HUMANMINK, Amaral transforms lived experience into symbolic, emotionally resonant imagery, inviting viewers to find beauty in uncertainty, resilience in vulnerability, and meaning in the unexpected detours that shape a life.
