Humanmink It’s like a human, but also like a mink HUMANMINK is the visual art practice of Canadian artist Trevor Amaral, based in London, Ontario.

Working primarily in acrylic, acrylic markers, and mixed media, his work explores emotional states, symbolism, and the tension between fear, resilience, and transformation. Moving between quiet introspection and energetic, expressive compositions, Amaral creates works that blend bold graphic language with deeply personal narratives. His practice is rooted in the belief that growth rarely follows a straight path. Reflecting on his journey, he writes about the romance of wandering without a map, the challenges of uncertainty, and the lessons learned from difficult times. He emphasizes the value of sitting with uncertainty, sharpening taste, recognizing the difference between oneself and others' descriptions, and understanding that meaningful growth often happens off the main road. Through HUMANMINK, Amaral transforms lived experience into symbolic, emotionally resonant imagery, inviting viewers to find beauty in uncertainty, resilience in vulnerability, and meaning in the unexpected detours that shape a life.

THE ASTRO BOYS

This summer, three boys are about to take one small step for man... and one GIANT leap for friendship.

“We’re taking the ship to Elvis and Tori if we have to.”
“Boss... you mean Alpha Centauri.”
“I know what I said.” They came for the stars. They stayed for each other. 🌟

But when a young astronaut’s heart gets lost in space, red boots planted on a lonely yellow moon, Houston, we have a problem. There’s only one thing left to do.

And that’s the hard-boiled truth, boys. Only one. 🥚

CUT TO: a cramped cockpit. Yellow light pours in from everywhere. A boy in a blue suit grips the controls.

ASTRO BOY #1
We’re gonna take the ship to Elvis and Tori if we have to.

Beat. Another boy leans in, one green eye, arms crossed.

ASTRO BOY #2..Boss. You mean Alpha Centauri.

ASTRO BOY #1
(staring into the void)
I know what I said.

SMASH CUT: a red lightning bolt tears across the frame. Alarms. A blue ball ricochets past a porthole. Somebody yells “HANG ON!”

NARRATOR
They’ll outrun asteroids. Outrun the law. Outrun their own shadows.

CUT TO: silence. A lone astronaut sits on the edge of a yellow moon, helmet off, a single red petal drifting past.

NARRATOR (softer)
But when a young astronaut’s heart is broken...

The boy looks up. A faint beep. The ship lights flicker back on behind him.

NARRATOR..there’s only one thing left to do.
Boots hit the ground. Engines roar. All three boys run toward the ship in perfect silhouette.

ASTRO BOY #3 (chewing a toothpick, not looking back)
And that’s the hard-boiled truth, boys.
